AHG
Maybe it is the internal sound that is not changing so much (soundaktor) Did you turn off the soundaktor via OBDeleven? In my 8 it seemed that once I did that the external changes were clearer
Suki
I picked up my new golf 8.5R last week. The dealer did not provide an owners manual, the dealer said "owners’ manuals/handbooks do not always come with the vehicle as it is all available online and through the infotainment screen" is this a thing now? I don''t see are Pure option on the internal sound, and Comfort and Eco don't make much sense. I've left it in comfort.

I think most VAG brands don’t provide a physical owner’s manual now, I believe VW is one of the brands that doesn’t.

No physical owners manual now. In addition to accessing via the infotainment screen, you can access through the VW app and also here and need to enter your VIN: https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-services/my-car/manuals-landing.html

I have it set to Eco as seems the least intrusive.
Booth11
There is very little you can do in terms of coding changes with obdeleven on the 8.5 due to the SFD2 protection which has not been cracked. You can use one click apps to change some things but that’s risky as you have no control or knowledge on what is being changed or how to change it back if something goes wrong. I personally wouldn’t use one click apps.

I think so, allows you to get a slightly quieter cabin when cruising while getting pops and bangs when you punch it. The mode you use affects both internal (soundaktor) and external (valves and mapping) sounds, and I like the external (physical) sounds to be spirited while the fake internal ones are quiet. P I usually have the exhaust on Race while the soundaktor is at 0% it is nice with windows open, and relatively calm with them closed. I think this is one of the only things that can be done on 8.5 as well, but I don’t have one (an 8.5) so I can’t verify that.

Only way to know is to try. I meant to look ages ago but thought I’d see how it was in Eco and it’s been ok. Anyway if you do want to check it's: - Module A9 - Adaptation - Volume of structure-borne noise actuator - Changed from 100% to 0% Scudgie
dv52
@AndyNo1: Hi. Just as an alternative to Rebecca's link - the URL HERE allows you to choose manuals from various makes/models and more importantly - you can download the entire file to your local PC (see below). EXCESSIONOCP
So today I absent mindedly applied the EPB while the car was still doing about 1-mph and I hadn’t come to a full stop on the drive. Cue a large grinding noise and a few bongs chiming. All is well but then the intrusive part of my brain wondered what would happen if I applied the EPB while doing say, 20mph. Thankfully the rest of my brain told me that was a stupid idea. But the question remains- what would happen? Does anyone know? Surely there is some wheel speed sensor somewhere that wouldn’t allow it to come on…

Suki
So, just a few observations on the 8.5R, having had it for just over a week: I'm surpised that VW are still fitting wipers that don't actually work. I mean, they must know this right? Did they get a job lot on some cheapo rubber and just decide to run the stock down? Anyway, the issue is fixed with a set of Aerotwins (A864S is the set you want, £20.95 from Amazon). Secondly, I'm rather embarressed to confess that I didn't know the car had Park Assist as standard now. The question is: Is it any good, and should I trust it? Does it understand kerbs and whatnot? Is it Park Assist Plus? I've actually been scared to try it out.
