And the CS starts at about 64k. So yeah, still a significant jump between them. You can put it down to the crippling taxes that are applied to cars here, particularly those cars in the higher emission bracket. That sounds like a nightmare. Is the difference between the base R and B/E spec wise, like in Germany, significant to justify the 5k increase?

I presume all our cars will be on the same boat 🤷♂️ I’m only teasing Kev. 😄 Nighthawk
Bris Marcus
23 minutes ago, Booth11 said: Yes I’d agree with that summary. My GTIs that preceded my Rs were more chuckable and ‘fun’ for sure, and it’s great to have those distinctions between the variants. The CS looks and is a very sporty model. For me the attributes of the R are more suited to my needs and wants. Less fun but more thrill and the AWD a big plus for me, and it keeps getting better and better. As someone who has had to leave his FWD car in Reading and get the train home to Bristol and been unable to get his RWD car out of his own garage (up a very small incline) when there has been a small amount of snow, the benefit of 4WD cannot be underestimated! 👍🏻😂 Scudgie

TheJetMan
@Booth11 Are you/have you got GAP insurance yet for Pablo? If yes, who did you go with and how much did you pay if you don’t mind me asking? I normally use direct gap but the underwriters are refusing cover unless I get a ghost immobilizer fitted? My current insurer (hastings) are also refusing to cover the R. Welcome to the life of owning an R I guess?

The Irish specs across the performance Golf range are very close, if not identical to you guys in the UK. Scudgie

Welcome to the life of owning an R I guess? I did a quote for GAP but will take it out when the car has been registered, which the dealership have said will be day of collection. I always use ALA and get Full Vehicle Replacement Plus policy. So I’ll do it tomorrow evening when I get back from picking the car up. I’ve done normal insurance through AA who I was already with, just amended my existing policy to new car. Sicsy and TheJetMan

Thank you! I’ve just had a look and get a bit nervous when you have to type the model of Volkswagen manually and don’t select it from a list. I want mine prior to collecting as it’s a long drive home and know what will happen if I don’t take it out! Could you let me know?

I know what you mean, I’m not keen on having to manually select the vehicle as reg not on DVLA site yet. I might do it tomorrow morning whilst I’m on the train going up in the hope that they register it first thing. Or just do it before I set off home as I have a long drive too which is a good point you make. There is a discount code automatically applied FESTIVE11 which gives a reduction. I tried the other two discount codes MSE15 and MSE25 but neither are working. TheJetMan and Sicsy
