  1. After owning two Golf R's (first manual then DSG) and now a S3 manual, I would say go with the Golf all day long. The standard spec in a Golf R is way better than an S3 so you will have to pay extra for the options in the S3. Standard items in the golf which does not come as standard in the Audi: Automatic headlights, Parking sensors and cruise control. They are three things I would think any car which costs so much would have as standard. Drive wise, the R felt more planted at speed whereas the Audi seems more like cruiser. The R is better IMO and I really believe the interior on the S3 is nothing to brag about compared to the Golf.
  2. Something to consider to get yourself a bargain motor: https://auctions.motorhog.co.uk/vehicle-list/details/2016-volkswagen-golf-r-dsg--not-recorded---only-6-485-miles----1984cc-2-0-petrol-automatic-6-speed-5-door-hatchback--not-recorded--at-traynors-limited-traynors-limited/570130?x=0&type=0&make=&trns=0&fuel=0&catc=0&dist=0&sort=4&srch=golf
  3. I can confirm the Golf R Cab are FWD, I am pretty sure it has the same setup as the Scirocco R with the clever XDS electronic differential lock which was surprisingly good!
  4. For the exclusivity factor and looks factor, the united grey 6R with the 19" alloys pack (black headlights surrounds) is IMO the best looking Golf I have seen (in particular the 6R I had owned 😜) Shame I drove a 7R and realised how much better they are They are at pretty much better at everything in terms of comfort, speed and fuel economy!
  5. Hi Raff, I can confirm they are the same
  6. Possible bargain for you here, don't know how close you are to Doncaster but if you are interested I would buy this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Golf-R-19-Inch-Alloy-/253098770951?hash=item3aeddcc207:g:HeMAAOSwYGNZlDa3
  7. Right or wrong about the claim, we should not be promoting anything illegal Best case scenario, buy a full set of prets for £1500 with tyres on ebay? They come up quite often, maybe even the same person who stole yours but on a successful day (for him anyways) Then you've got some spares? Or try to sell the spares to recoup your loss?
  8. Lol I wouldn't bother going through insurance, having a claim on there for 3/5 years will be more of a hit to the pocket than one wheel But I agree, I would be worried about them coming back
  9. Tbh I have never used the button, guess you could read through the car manual or just jack the car up with the light on and off and see which one the alarm is sounded for? Btw the car has to be locked for the alarm to go off
  10. Sad to hear this! I believe there is a little switch on the door pillar behind the drivers seat which is to either turn the alarm on/off whilst being jacked up. If this may have been already off, no alarm would have been sounded?
  11. Easier to find a used set of Prets for around £1500 with good tyres and sell your Cadiz than find a Golf R with the Prets. Will cost you less than £1,000 this way
  12. Pan roof, 19" pretoria and sat nav seem to be the main options
  13. And if you're budget stretches £24k for a 2016
  14. £20,000 base spec 2014 3dr with Cadiz alloys, would say go for a 2015 as they still have warranty remaining and seem to start at 21k
  15. £1000 all day, singles sell for £300 a piece
