Its a sorry story alright, Hope she gets the appropriate financial settlement she deserves. And yeah it's bullshit how the system works but its never going to change, We pay the highest prices in Europe. However that said the A45 was £500/year for me at 30/5yncb Same price on the Golf R at stage 2,

O and for those that don't know, You always get a better deal by calling direct, price comparison websites always charge your insurer commission and yep you guessed it that gets knocked onto your premium

How old is she? Many factors to consider on the algorithm used by insurance companies 1) Somebody involved in an accident is more likely to be involved in another 2) I assume large personal injury claim Might not have been her fault but could she have done more to avoid the accident? Did she not see the car approaching the roundabout at speed, Wrongly assuming he would stop? What I'm saying is a very competent driver never assumes anything for granted and most of the time when I'm driving I assume somebody will do the most retarded thing possible and it's surprising how often it happens, For example: Somebody in the left lane on a round about and they turn right, (no indicator) Whilst I'm in the right hand lane going straight on. I have assumed the tard will go right and yep 3/10 times it happens, But I've backed off expecting it letting them continue, yes I could have gone straight on letting them crash into the side of me but I see it and avoid so I don't get shunted. Insurance claim avoided. Somebody with the record of a PI claim and involved in an RTA would be considered more high risk to insure than somebody who has been accident free for 2/3/4/5years etc...? Regardless of fault Statistically (and insurance is all about statistics) Spmebody involved in an accident is more likely to be involved in another. They will pay but you have to claim on your own policy. I crash down the road and say o shit I got side swiped by an uninsured driver, Get a fault free claim everytime, Never going to happen. Insurance is overpriced. But it's over priced because parasites bleed the system dry, Ambulance chasers/accident management companies/hire cars/workshops/lawyers/barristers/courts all overcharging for services provided. https://www.moneysupermarket.com/car-insurance/why-is-car-insurance-expensive explains it all nicely pleass don't take this as a dig at your sister, I'm just using it as an example and have no idea of the facts of the case, But that is why she is less "attractive" to insure

Standard ones are shocking but unless you drive in manual your wasting your money
-
VW have history of making poor quality wheels for the 7, The 19" Tallys on the 6 were appalling
-
All early models are plagued by problems, Ideally your best waiting a year anyway

Got Pzeros on my A45, Never had before but seem decent

Insurance companies have to run tight ships or everybody will literally take the piss out of them And somebody has to pay for uninsured drivers, I mean if your hit by an uninsured driver and he takes off, I assume you expect to claim off somebody? Hence the MIB to look after you

Yes but there's plenty of choice, TTE kits seem popular on here, GTX kits were popular on the mk6

The IS turbo is a little weasel of a turbo mate Merc runs on a borgwarner and is bigger and can hold more boost safely
-
Understood but the risk would be to much for me personally to gamble with.

Chances are he hit a pothole? I dont know circumstances but dealer dealer well within their right to not pay if that caused it

end of the day loved my golf, Had every performance Golf since a MKV but overall I'm very happy with the merc. Quite happy I brought one over an RS3, Maybe not so much if I get dusted off by the 1st I come across but we will see, I've already ordered a renntech tuning box, Knocking the merc up to 420/420 for a measly £500. Whilst keeping my warranty intact. So maybe I'll give a standard RS3 a surprise or atleast I hope to lol

DSG over a manual in every situation, Honestly don't understand how you cannot just drive it in manual anyway..... Pedal delay is probably what OP is talking about, But it was never that terrible in mine....

Thats the tool, What are they called?

Stop your car. Enable Sport mode, Deselect traction control (one press will do), Push the break in and mash the accelerator all the way down, Release when ready and have fun worth noting it puts great strain on components. once every now and then is ok but keep repeating it non stop something will break eventually esp if modded
-
I think you need a special tool to pour the Oil into the DSG box if I recall? it's not as simple as popping lid off and pouring it in, with a long spout long straw so not your simple dump and bump

No it probably isn't worth the extra 10k, But it is a better car. For me it was an extra 17k as my 15reg GR7 went for 20k p/x with Leather/DSG/Lapiz/19'' pretz/3dr (30k mileage) GR7 is a great car, It's real rival is probably the Focus RS/Megane/civic Type R VW sold every single one of us up shit creek selling golfs on cheap leases at £200pm, Completely devalued the car and the brand, Leasegate has sent 100's upon 100's of cheap cars crashing onto the market and it hits every single one of us in the pocket. That's primarily the reason I jumped before I ended up in negative equity on the car, Which takes some doing when you start at a 7k deposit. Audi Or Merc will ever devalue their flagship models like that. So although I know depriciation will be a lot in the merc it won't lose anywhere near as badly as my GR7 was doing. my 15reg GR7 went for 20k p/x with Leather/DSG/Lapiz/19'' pretz/3dr (30k mileage) Best price I got offered was 20.5k on px, Worst was 16.4k from Audi London against an RS3, Most dealers were saying 17.5k frankly disgusting and meaning I would have lost 10k in a year and a half on a VW,
