  1. Will be keeping my 7.5 R Estate for another 18 months, until the All In runs out, then it will be an 8.5 R Estate….. ❤️
  2. Hi there, not sure if this will help you but I will share my experience. I recently received a notice of intention to prosecute for a speeding ticket doing 99 in a 30 zone. My heart leapt into my mouth and I simply couldn’t believe it for a few seconds. When I calm down long enough to read the NIP properly , I realised that I was actually in bed at the moment the camera picture was taken, and that I have never actually visited the location in my life. On close inspection of the photographs provided, it became immediately obvious that the car was not mine. I promptly contested the NIP with the local police force, providing a “spot the difference” type list of differences between my car (photos provided) and the car in the speed camera photographs. The differences included issues such as my car being an estate, with the offending car being a hatchback, my car having 18” Cadiz alloys, and the offending her having 19” Prets, the guy driving the car thing obviously 35 years younger than me, and so on. You could even see the black insulation tape that have been used to stick the cloned plate on top of the original plate! The whole thing was closed within a matter of days, and I was provided with a letter by the local police force to show any officers who may stop me in the future. Refreshingly positive outcome, reached in a short number of days, and a very positive experience of my local police force.
  3. Another vote for the Bosch; I have them front and rear.
  4. No, they did not make me pay. I think because it is such a well known, simple and quick fix AND I had some other work done that was claimable, I did not pay anything.
  5. So, was at the Dealer, yesterday, with my R, to have The rattle seen to. I took the Technician out for a spin to show him that rattle and another. He was most helpful, and told me it is very common, but only on GTIs and Rs. The harder suspension contributes to generation of many rattles that non-sporty models just don’t get. He knew the issue and the fix immediately upon my explanation (before he’d even heard it) and told me that they cannot claim the labour it back from VW. Apparently, it is a thirty second fix with a leather covered hammer; he simply taps the d-shaped securing bracket to bend it, slightly. From above, I assume, but am not certain. Also, it is a pretty chunky piece of metal, so “tap” is likely an understatement!!! Sure enough, he fixed the issue, perfectly, along with a different rattle / buzz from the passenger-side A Pillar. I am not advocating what he did, as there is clearly a risk of getting it wrong, but had promised to share my experience, so I have. A bit of tape sounds less risky, although is probably not as robust a fix. Hope that helps, Clean.
  6. I have the same issue. Rattles like mad behind driver.s seat (RHD), disappears when folded down. I had it repaired under warranty about eight months ago, but it has come back, and is awful. I was told, then, that it was the brackets that secure the seat that had not been torqued up during manufacture. The car is back with the dealer, next Monday. i will let you know what happens.
  7. This. Best rubber currently available for Autumn, Spring and Summer.
  8. If it is at low speed, on a 7.5, it is a known issue with front suspension top bearings and is warranty fixable.
  9. I think it maybe a feature of one of the option packs. I have a very late mk 7.5 (20 plate) which came with additional options as standard to yours (I think), and that may explain it. Do you have ACC and Lane Assist? Perhaps it is part of that pack?
  10. Mine displays in the centre of the Dash when I exceed the limit, and I think it might be at the top of the dash in Nav mode. I think you set it in an option, somewhere “Display Speed Limit” rings a bell.
  11. It’s a Front Assist Sensor Obstruction failure. Had same issue. Ice related. Soon clears up.
  12. Hi all, Slightly random addition to this thread, but I thought folk would find this useful...... 😇 I have been in the market for some winter wheels to dress my 7.5 R Estate in, and I have recently found on eBay a set of four, new, boxed original OEM VW Talladegas (from the Mk. 6 R series), complete with VW Centre Caps. They are perfect replacements for my Cadiz, this winter, being the identical specification (7.5Jx18 ET51), and classic alloy construction, so no diamond cut finish to go all white-wormy........ ................ And they are available for £649 posted. Just have a look on eBay, and you will find them. 👍 I have no affiliation with the seller, I just thought they were a super-bargain find that others might benefit from knowing about. The seller has many sets left, I understand. My Cadiz are now in lie-flat storage in their summer Bridgestone socks, and my Talladegas are ripping along in their Vredestein Wintrac Pros. Hope this helps someone, somewhere...... Clean. 😎
  13. Sorry for the dumbass question, but does an induction kit invalidate warranty? Thinking about it, now, is there a list somewhere of mods that do not,or do they all? Thanks, Clean.
  14. I used these descriptions and Part Numbers: Front is GTi/GTD 7.5 standard: 5GV075116 Rear is standard 7.5 wagon 5G9075101A I was also advised they would not fit, as my engineer was told the same by the Parts Supplier (TPS, I think), but - leap of faith - they do fit, look great, and work a treat.
