Yes…another tail light thread. This might even be the wrong place to post this, but I’ve not seen a thread with any info on this particular configuration. Just got some new LED tails for my Mk6 R20 and desperately want the inner tails to illuminate on braking. I’ve done an insane amount of digging and came across this thread: https://www.motor-talk.de/blogs/tba...heckleuchten-beim-bremsen-aktiv-t5216235.html (granted it’s in German…I just translated the sections I wanted to see.) This process appears to use Vag Can Pro (VCP) to dump the BCM EEPROM to a configuration file where you’d then be able to modify the individual light settings (including enabling the inner tails and specifying brightness). My issue is that I only have “OBDeleven” and it does not have EEPROM capabilities, but I don’t want to go and buy other vag com tools if it won’t work anyway... Can anyone confirm this on VCP? Has anyone been able to do this on the NAR Mk6 Golf R? -
Having just tried to scan my August 19 car, it claims my Hex-Can needs an upgrade. Anyone used the interface upgrade program from Ross-Tech? Did you have to pay VAT on entry to the UK from the USA?

Hi All - some questions to those who have VCDS'd their exhaust flaps to stay permanently open. I'm seriously considering it - even if just for a few months to try it out. a ) Does the exhaust "thunder" as the revs decrease in Normal like it does in Race / Sport mode when the flaps are permanently open? Or is that only when the car is in Race/Sport? b ) How much difference did you see in black soot on the outer pipes? Unfortunately I don't get much chance to drive around in Sport (plus it's super annoying in traffic) so my inners get sooty, requiring me to chrome buff them when I clean the car. But I almost never need to clean the outers. c ) On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being soothing, 10 being pin-in-your-eyeball) - how annoying is the drone at town speeds, motorway speeds (70), fast motorway (80+) or just general driving. Is it a regret keeping them open? Cheers!

Having used an *ahem* dodgy clone of VCDS many years ago, and knowing that that clone wouldn't work with my new '16 plate Golf MK7 R, I thought - what the heck, let's give OBDEleven a try. Now, it's Android only, and I don't have any Android kit !! - I prefer Apple stuff , so... 20 quid Android 5.x tablet off fleaBay €52 for the OBDEleven dongle with the PRO activation (coding etc etc). It all arrived this morning, and the app was a doddle to get set-up and working. So - out to the car.... Connected the Tablet to my Garage WIFI (don't ask, I'm a bit of a geek!) Plugged in the dongle into the OBD port, and paired the dongle to the tablet via Bluetooth. Launched the App, registered the dongle activation code with the App to enable the Pro features. The App does an initial scan of the car, to work out what's installed, and check for fault-codes. Once done (took about 4 minutes), you get a list of your modules and any faults that may be stored. From there, it's a case of going into the module you want, select "coding" or "adaptations" - the app downloads the necessary data for that module, and you get the details that you need. Adaptations are a little different than VCDS - the naming conventions are slightly different, and channels are "grouped" into functional units. It's actually pretty good, and keeps things clean. You just have to go hunting for the channel you need. So far, I've managed to turn on Traffic Signal Recognition (via the lane change camera), HVAC fan leds, XDS to strong, and the re-fill quantity gauge. Took about 15 minutes end-2-end. Cleared any residual faults, and it's job done. If you're not interested in data logging etc (which I understand is coming soon), and you can cope with Android, go for it - it's £hundreds cheaper than the official VCDS, and from what I can see so far, it does exactly the same job.

So I have a 7.5 with the akrapovic and vagsport rea delete. Have had the flaps coded open for a few months now but the drone on long journeys is doing my head in lol. I’ve searched everywhere and watched all relevant videos but I can’t find a solid answer on how to code the flaps back to normal? Any help greatly appreciated, thanks

Last week I used OBDeleven to perminantly open the valves and I’m sure I read numerous times that it wouldn’t affect mpg, today I have noticed my long term dropping. I primarily drive in Normal Mode and my drive style hasn’t changed.

I have a couple of questions relating to the 7.5 as even after reading through the many pages of useful info I am still not 100% clear! The first is regards to having the full rear light 'brake' lights coming on, I assume that the 7.5 only has one part of the two lights lit during braking the same as the 7 (I dont know as not getting the car till tomorrow) but believe the coding below will make both parts light during braking? Could someone confirm? Code: Select 09 (central electrics) Select security access - 16 Enter code 31347 Select adaption -10 Channel (8)-Leuchte27 NSL RC6-Lichtfunktion C27 Set to brake light - Bremslicht (default is not active) Channel (10)-Leuchte27 NSL RC6-Dimming CD27 Set to 100 (default is 0) Hit do it to save the changes. Also I have read that Lane Assist can be 'activated' even if the car doesnt have it as standard? I have ACC (which I think all do) but no mention of lane assist and traffic signs showing in the display as my wife's Tiguan does, am I correct and if so does this mean activating lane assist also activates the traffic sign imagery in the display? Apologies for being a bit dim and I have managed to find the coding for some other tweaks such as the plip on alarm arming, needle sweep etc but the two above have me stumped and also because a lot of references are just to the 7 and not the 7.5 Thanks in advance for any help

Came across this today, https://www.autoinstruct.com.au/manufacturer/volkswagen/mk7-golf/mk7-golf-obdeleven-vcds-tweaks/ Most of the tweaks are fairly common tweaks I use to activate/deactivate on my previously owned Audi's but I'm intrigued to know if anyone has tried some of the more 'interesting' tweaks, such as Haldex traction adjust, XDS differential adjust, starting vibration reduction and the break drying system. Never came across these tweaks with my Audi's. I have VCDS but not the OBDeleven.

I'm fairly new here but looks like i'll finally be picking up an R in a weeks time after looking around for nearly 2 months! I've been reading up on a few things and wondered if anyone could help out with a few questions below please? I've always been into servicing things around the car myself e.g. brake pads etc but understand you need to hook up vcds to allow this on the rear pads? What cable do most people here use as there seems to be a few versions of the cables on eBay such as VCDS lite, VCDS full and OBD11. I probably wouldn't need to tinker too much but would be grateful to hear what the most cost effective solution is here? I have an A3 as well so would also be good if the cable fitted there too. Folding mirror, reverse gear tilt - are these features both part of the mirror pack? And if so, is it possible to enable through VCDS without hardware changes? What other useful features have you enabled using VCDS? Detailing - I've been looking around re paint protection film and am still undecided on the pros and cons so this ones on hold for now. I have however thought to ceramic coat the prets using CQuartz, just think it should make it easier to maintain them given the angles etc on them. Anyone had any experience with this or any opinions on whether its a good/bad idea? I think mine comes installed with the composition media (voice button) on the bottom left so hoping it is at least app connect enabled. May have some questions on this when the car arrives. There seems to be a lot of talk on this already though so will take a read of that first. Apologies for the long post

My 15 plate 7R has pace car indicators enabled; I noticed this not long after I took delivery in May. After some consideration I've decided that I'm not a fan of the look, nor the potential for MOT fail (next March). However, I've no idea what the 'standard' settings are. Can some kind soul enlighten me so I can plug in my VCDS cable and sort this?

Hi All I've been messing about with VCDS to delay the headlight washer activation time and while I couldn't seem to delay the headlight washer operation (think I changed the right setting but it didn't display function) I may have changed something accidentally. As it stands, when my headlight washers activate, they squirt for a few seconds, then pause, then do another quick squirt. Is this normal? I can't remember if they did this before I started messing about in vcds. Also, my headlight washers seem to squirt before my window washers! Anyone else have this issue? Thanks in advance
