Build Progress Super Thread

Spoke to VWCS today.  I'm BW10 stuck at stage 3.  When I called a week ago I was told it was in the last stage of the build and it should be heading to Emden over the weekend.  Today I was told it's in the penultimate stage before the post build inspection, they don't know when it will be finished so can't give me any indication of when it will arrive in the UK.

I emailed my dealer to let them know that I'm disappointed at the prospect of waiting another month to get it.

I am going to take a look around at alternatives this weekend.  Aside from exotic brands, I'm not sure the golf is worth this much of a wait.  The woman on VWCS did say that there had been high demand for the R leading to delays building them.  Is it a possibility that they ran out of parts, for example?

Same, bored. Spoke to BMW about a 335i last week. The lead time is 5 weeks from order. I could probably order one now and it would be spec'd, ordered, built, delivered, registered, PDI'd and sitting on my drive in less time than it takes VW to move an R from one end of their factory to the other.

In terms of crap companies they really are up their with BT and Npower.

I was speaking to VW Chester yesterday about the finance paperwork that I'd received and was asking about the status of mine. It's a BW10 car and I'm stuck at stage 5 on the tracker.

Anyway, he told me that for one car he was checking it on the online tracker on Tuesday and it was showing as 'in transit' and then the next day it arrived in Chester on a transporter. Jees, if only some of us had luck like that!!!!

A little hiccup. My Detailer has not renewed his Indemnity Insurance so will not be able to do my car on the Dealer's premises. He's trying to sort this out by 4pm today, but I don't think it will come to pass. So the Dealer will valet the car instead. Ah well, better than nothing. They'll use new sponges etc.

They'll use the soft side of a brillo pad and the 1/2 bucket wash technique.

West London VW have just set a record for the others to beat. Amazing. Brilliant.

My car was delivered to them this morning. I'm just about to drive it away. BW9

Order of the day:

Car delivered to WLVW this morning

Salesman calls me to tell me!

I race to London to inspect it as best I can, jammed in amongst other cars and under wraps

Car is queue jumped to PDI

I drive it and inspect it in unwashed state.

VW's valet manager spots some light scratches in the bonnet so I agree to let them wash it with new cloths etc and then decide what to do

Lovely job

Car registered in my name

Part ex paperwork done

Salesman fills up tank with V Power, complete with selfie video as proof!

And I'm now off home! Daniel Young needs to get an award for the nicest, most helpful salesman of the year. Miracle worker.

Mind you I'm BW10 and still stuck on 5a. What railway siding are these cars hidden in?

BW9 and still sat at Emden Docks and there are even a few BW7's and BW8's.  Bonkers!  There can't be that much parking on the docks if each ship can take 10,000 cars.  I'm sending Dr Who over to sort out the mystery as Scooby Doo is watching Super Vet.

Ehhhh...bw7 cars at the port?! This is annoying the hell out of me. Worth speaking to bmw...hmmmmm

Super vet FTW

There is no way each ship can take 10,000 cars. The Weser Highway which is a regular Emden/Grimsby ship only takes 750 units it says.

Have a look on www.kess.kline.de they have a few of the regular Emden ships.
