That’s Haldex, not DSG.

Yeah easy, plenty of guides on YouTube.
You need access to a scan tool such as VCDS or OBDeleven to monitor the fluid temp before checking the level.

Need a designated filling system?

what one do you have?

Official way to fill is from the drain point, but you need an adapter to screw in so the new fluid can be pumped in (or gravity fed in).

I saw a few videos on you tube which used the top fill method via the filter housing. I used this. Just requires a funnel and a length of plastic tube.

1. Remove air box, battery and battery tray as the filter is under this.
2. Remove filter to allow it to drain easier
3. Remove drain plug and about half a litre or less will drain out. There is a fill tube in the drain hole which needs unscrewing. Once removed the fluid in the dsg sump will drain out. Think I dropped around 4.5 / 4.7 litres.
4. Refit both fill tube and drain plug.
5. Add 5 litres via the filter housing.
6. Refit filter, air box and battery.
7. Start car and run the dsg through the gears (P > R > D etc) a couple of times. Let the fluid get up to the required temp (can’t remember the exact number), then remove drain plug only (not the full tube) and the excess fluid will drain out.
8. Refit drain plug with new seal.

Think that’s roughly the steps I used.

Haldex fluid looks right - I got mine from VW at £40 inc VAT

The other three parts I didn't purchase and used existing - I think they are only available as part of a kit; it's been mentioned elsewhere on this forum I think.

Does anyone know of a good independent in North Yorkshire that can do the Haldex service properly  ?

No but I took mine to a local garage and asked them to supply the labour if I supplied the instructions and fluid!  They also supplied the fluid tall drain tray and syringe to re-fill.

I'm getting the Haldex pump o-rings and the 2 bolts from local VW dealership for £18.26, part number 0CQ598305.

I'll enquire about the other parts ( Haldex fluid, drain and fill plugs) when i pick up the seals later on this week.

On another note: got a price from an independent VW garage for Haldex pump removal, filter clean and oil change...came in at £112, oil change alone was £75.

Jaysus! I know it's not a Golf but i have a  diesel 2017 Passat 240 remapped to 290bhp but it has the same Haldex unit. Mine is at 40k and never touched!  I'm dreading opening mine, i'm going to do mine on Thursday.  I have the 0 rings and the oil. I can post the photo's of the 40k build up,  that's if nobody minds on here because it's not a Golf R?

Haldex oil is £40 from VW (£36 ish from TPS).

If they are saying £75, I would double check they are using the correct oil. You need HALDEX oil not rear diff oil (they are different).

cheers @slider09 i'll double check before performing the service but its a Audi RS & VW Independent dealer so i'd be shocked if they didn't know the difference.

Even for VW to do the Haldex its £70 for the oil change (just checked their site)....no filter clean. So what i stated above seems correct?

Apologies....I read your comment as ‘oil alone is £75’ (ie just to buy the oil)

It’s been a long day
