Good thing he realised, it could have been an expensive diagnostic fee 😁 Nothing like walking around the house looking for your glasses that you have on your face 😂🥴😂 AHG

Might not last long and possibly a bit tacky looking. 🤐🙂 14 hours ago, chillly said: I think the blue would sit nice on your wheels.👌 I was also going back and forth from “is it too tacky ?” to “I did order blue valve caps for my bicycle” and even to “it’s blue, best color ever” and back to “you’re 50 man, not 15” … but then my good friend who I consulted with convinced me they won’t stay there for more than two days, so my back and forth doesn’t really matter, it’s really between classic black and anthracite (gunmetal) grey, so o got both. I will update quality, but judging from the ones I have now on my R and ny spouse’s Tiguan (VW emblem on the tip) they should be just fine (also one was taken from the Tig). Age is only a number fella👍 who cares what others think. If you like you like! I can recall a member considering getting a 4D number plate at one point, but because someone else said they thought it was tacky they never bothered. such a shame really that we all become influenced by others opinions in some way. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder 👌

At the end of the day @AHG, it’s down to what you like and your taste etc. it’s your car. I’m not sure age really comes into it that much otherwise we might all be driving grey Aygos. 😂 (no offence to Aygo drivers) 😄 Part of being on a forum is about people sharing opinions; these may differ widely and really that’s not a bad thing at all imo As is often said, life would be very dull if we all had the same opinion all the time. 😄
AHG
No, no, no other opinions here affected me. I am open to opinions but don’t let what others think guide me. I was thinking all of that myself, that I would come up to the car and I will think the blue caps make it look like a souped up civic, and then my friend raised the issue that shiny caps get taken (which happened to me even with less shiny ones), and I realized I’d be buying them for someone else. So got the grey and black (which I likes all along, as they should suit the wheel itself). If someone (@chillly ?!) wants to buy them, they are in the link, just choose the color. I would love to see them on a R, to get a true visual of it. Now I just have to figure out how to get the greyed out R wheel caps … it will happen, probably soon 🙂 Booth11

Also don't have to worry about them corroding themselves on. Scudgie, AHG and Booth11 2
AHG
Haven’t thought about Galvan corrosion Is the valve shaft brass or nickel ? I may put on some grease on the thread to help with that. Although 3 years on two cars, and it didn’t give any signs or problem (maybe required lots of water, and we park in covered spots mostly)

Could also be the exposure to salt/grit and all manor of rubbish on our roads. It's been more of a problem now, than when I first started out driving many moons ago. After that I decided not to bother with them, even though I do like the R ones. I’d rather not have something that attracts unwanted attention. Also i agree it could look like a souped up civic. And i actually like the look of Civics. Would they make it more of a sleeper for you so people wont know its a Golf R and think its a Civic. It maybe the icing on the cake for you? I concur with your initial statement Blue may look cool also. If you like you like! don't stress over what others think fella! Your the one who owns the car not them! Like Rebecca said we are all different. Look forward to your findings on the caps no matter what colour you choose AHG
mahalo
The point about not attracting attention is I feel a valid one. Bllue ones would stand out and would almost certainly attract attention and be gone in no time. Black ones would be the stealth option probably followed by silver. I didnt want him to feel as thou they were tacky/chavy and if he likes something he shouldn't be coerced/guided into not wanting what he likes. Its nice we all like different. Personally i liked the fact of the Blue on his Jerez wheels, i thought it would add a touch of colour to a plain wheel. Some like plain and sometimes less is more. Who knows? Opinions are great on forums as well as debates ! It sometimes makes you see things differently/clearer who knows. You like you like and buy what you like i always say. who knows.
