Daz_R7
Afternoon all, Need some advice. My neighbour just 'phoned me to say he had scared off two men from my car, one was standing next to it and the other leaning in. The car wasn't broken in to but was unlocked. One of two things must have happened, either I left it unlocked (I can't 100% rule this out) or they had some sort of device to unlock it. I have a MK7.5 Golf R without keyless entry and wondered if these are prone / easyish to unlock? AS I say, I wouldn't rule out not locking the car by mistake, but has me worried especially as I had an attempted breakin at my house a couple of weeks ago which I managed to disturb, maybe they were after the keys. Maybe they came back? Thinking maybe it's time to get a Ghost immobiliser.
Raiden
Upgrade asap and sleep with 1 eye open. Unfortunately that's what I had to do. Worth getting on Amazon and ordering a stop lock elite Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
BobbyT
Get a ghost, they can lean in all they want then
Gavras
As above get a stop lock elite it disclok. ghosts great but they only know the cars has it after they try to break in or succeed in breaking in. then get ghost fitted. Also review your house security, might need some more visual stuff to make them pick on someone else. Shug
Shug
Look through this chain. Some good info there. Agree with above, get some visible security, may just mean they go elsewhere for an easier target Booth11
ellixtt
How long was the car potentially not locked for? I know with my 7R (not keyless) if I forget to lock it then after a minute or two it locks itself... I have AWG and it’s worth every penny, I was skeptical before buying but I will most likely have it in my next car if it’s compatible. I have a disklok but I don’t really bother putting it on because it’s a pain in the arse taking it off IMO, I do have a big anti ram raid driveway post which was around £150 and I believe that is the main deterrent in place, never had an issue in 2 years but I guess I could be lucky, if you have a driveway setup which will allow a driveway post then I would definitely recommend it, just don’t get a thin one 😂 https://www.autolok.co.uk/collections/security-posts/products/autolok-telescopic-anti-ram-raid-post

Mine only auto re-locks if it is initially locked, then I press the unlock button , but don't open a door (or hatch). If it is unlocked to begin with it stays unlocked for the duration. Jens0n
Adding - if not already done so disable comfort opening of windows. Iirc, it’s in opening and closing menu on car set up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Booth11

You can code it in with ODBEleven. I've done it with mine as I'm partial to forgetting to lock the car. Now at least if I forget to lock it, a minute later it locks itself. Worth doing in my opinion if you believe you may forget sometimes to lock it. Just adds that extra peace of mind. I've also added a wee indoor CCTV pointing towards my car and motorbike with a large sign in the wee window saying there is CCTV. Put that in place after some degenerates tried to nick the bike. Since then I've had no bother (touch wood).

If I’m honest I can’t remember ever setting that up, when I got the car i scoured the menus changing everything and I have OBD11 and coded everything I want but I’m sure I haven’t touched an auto lock feature at all. I noticed mine when washing the car, when I get out after moving it around on the drive if I don’t lock it and start washing the car it auto locks after a few minutes unless it’s left in wash mode (wiper stays up on windscreen). gregozedobe
I sometimes leave my missus in the car while I go off to the tool shop (or somewhere else she is not interested in) so I wouldn't want it to autolock - with std VW deadlocking she wouldn't be able to get out. If you double lock the car (two presses) it locks it knowing someone is in the car so the alarm won’t go off from the internal sensor and they will be able to open from the inside gregozedobe and goodbadboy 1

That's helpful to know, it was the opposite way around on my ST so I just assumed I had to double press for deadlocks on the Golf as well !!
