Well, after 5 years of trouble free ownership the R has now gone. It’s been great being part of this group / community, lots of very knowledgeable folk about that have helped out immensely.

Enjoy your cars all.

Aw, end of an era slider!  Sad to hear your R ownership is at an end but very much hope you enjoy the Tig!  Thanks for all your contributions over the years on the forum, no need to be a stranger though so hope you’ll look in now and then, and it’ll be great to see the Tig.

Best of luck with the new motor!  😊

Love those Tigs !

We had two of them in the past
as my spouse’s daily and family hauler
(my mom is still using the white 2010,
and the 2015 was stolen while we were hiking)

We are now on the look for another
(she wants a used one, 1-2yo,
but not many sell them so soon)

IMHO, the 2.0 4motion (and not the FWD)
is a terrific family carrier / road trip machine
My first steps in Haldex were with it

Send some pics bro, we have love here for anything Haldex, especially if it’s an R (even line ;-))

Gone for a mk2 (not the FL). Got a good strong price for my 2014 R (only lost £3000 on the purchase price from 5 and a bit years ago).

Hopefully get the Tiguan Monday, just waiting for confirmation that the dealership have put a full years MOT on it.

Nice. What year is it? Colour?

To only lose £3k in that time is crazy good

I had my eye on that exact spec and colour. They do look really, really good when it's been cleaned well. When I first saw these I thought the front was too 'busy' with all the trim on it, but it does work really well.

Very hard to come by that spec though - DSG 4Motion. I'm guessing TDI?

Just been to pick it up…..lovely car inside. Being a later 2017 it comes with the 8” glass infotainment system and Active Info Display cockpit.

Yes, it’s the lowest of the 3 power outputs at 150bhp / 2 litre diesel. Didn’t buy it for the power, more for its towing capabilities.

I’ve always liked these cars. Tried to convince my wife to get one 4 years ago but she got the mk7.5 GTI instead.

I remember an old Top Gear episode where they reviewed SUVs and the Tiguan came out on top because of the towing capability :).

150hp is fine IMO for that purpose. I don't think it's worth having much more in an SUV bodystyle, maybe 200. Definitely a diesel though.

My Mrs recently sold some shares in her company and cashed out well so I'm trying to convince her that her dream is not to save it, or go on holiday, but is actually a 340i xDrive 😂. Progress towards this goal - 0%.

I had the same success 4 years ago trying convince the mrs to get a Tiguan. Reason being, 7 years ago I had 100% success in swaying her car choice and we ended up with a Nissan Qashqai - and she hated it
