No excuse these days, good quality CCTV is unbelievably cheap compared to 20 years ago and with modern broadband the transmission of hIgh quality HD video streams to a person sat in a monitoring centre is a prerequisite for a garage with high value desirable goods.

This is one reason I no longer have a mk7 Golf R. sleepless nights, thinking your house is going to be broken into for the keys or just finding half a car on your drive, it is so sad Scumbags 😡😡😡 I know it’s only a car but not worth the stress and I live in a quiet place.

Just been looking through Autotrader and see my old Golf R I recently sold up for sale. Ironically it’s now up for £1k more than I paid for it 11 months and 7,400 miles ago 👍 shows they are holding their value or I stole it off the VW dealer 😳🤔 https://auto100.co.uk/vehicle-details/Volkswagen-Golf-U23302/

Yep 100%. Illegal 😩 Not worth the hassle IMO
-
Really bad, especially having to resort to selling it 😩 Scumbags need stringing up, no respect for anything or anyone.

I’m so glad I have KESSY and pray if they are determined that they get it without the need for keys! Dread the thought of breaking into my house for the keys. I had a tracker on my first R but now if it goes I wouldn’t want it back tbh.

If he can’t fabricate and weld himself; try another place see if you can get it cheaper. The binding brake will more than likely be corroded calliper/piston, a quick strip and clean should sort that, do both sides just as well. Once sorted get shot of it as those advisories will be majors next year.

I keep finding myself drawn to a Porsche 911 997 gen 2 but just know it would probably end up being a money pit. The R with its initial cost to purchase and the normal service costs is incredibly good value for a sub 5 sec 0-60 car and very difficult to replace., without pretty hefty cost increases all round.

This was about 5/6 years ago; I just happened to be in my local wash down cleaning my wagon and spoke to the car garage owner next door about his second hand stock and mentioned I was looking to sell mine, he wanted my wagon to fill a hole on his forecourt 👍 Couple days later deal was done, money in the bank. It allowed me the freedom to do a deal for cash on something else I wanted, that didn’t want my wagon as a px. Nothing stopping you from approaching dealers direct, it just depends what they want on their forecourt, now is a quiet time with Christmas just behind us, many dealers may have plenty of stock to shift before they start buying in. Would be nice to know how the OP got on with his Tootle offers?

My Carwow page just shows this now Please note This model is now discontinued by the manufacturer and factory orders are now closed. You can obtain similar vehicles from existing dealer stock here or by configuring a new car.

Tootle.co.uk create an advert and see what offers come in, if happy with an offer contact dealer and sort it out 👍

I get better mpg in my manual than I did in my DSG. On the computer it is about 5mpg better. Struggled to get my DSG to go 32mpg, on a run up the motorways to the midlands taking it steady, think I saw about 34mpg. Doing same in my manual I can easily see 38/40mpg.

One reason I don’t want and would avoid a pano roof, just one more thing to worry about there is enough glass already and partly why I bought the wife a Citigo and not a glass booted VW Up. Tempered glass in its very nature/manufacture is highly stressed and breaking/exploding spontaneously is nothing new. I do not understand why they don’t fit laminated glass on panoramic roofs if they are so prone to being hit by flying objects you would want similar characteristics as your windscreen, apart from it being more expensive but at least it will never explode.

M140i Ownership - Considered all the options and went for a...
Ben replied to .Griff.'s topic in Other Marques
So what would you go for a new/nearly new M240 or a second hand M2 around equal price (£30-32k)to the M240? If going M240 what are the absolute must haves, see you mention diff etc I assume any M2 or is there some must have options on these too? If I was looking at a lardy 335d, I assume adjustable suspension is the must have, if it’s an option? Just curious as I’m not fully up to speed on BMW must haves or really need etc -
ACC deactivated is not the front assist, it is your cruise control. When you deselect ACC via speedo/off button on the steering wheel switch cluster, you will get the message “ACC Deactivated “. To switch the cruise control to the active position but not actually on (you then set speed to activate it) you just need to press the button on the left of your steering wheel; in your picture above it is the button with a speedo/off thing on the upper right of the left switch cluster. Each time you press that you will loose sight of your total mileage as the ACC symbol replaces it, then you can set your speed (activate ACC) and distance with the other buttons. Every time you press the speedo/off button you will get ACC deactivated and see your total mileage again...simples.

Just spent last few hours reading up on the difference between an M235i and the M2. Straight six does sound nice👍

My mates mk7 failed mot at VW Plymouth, with pace car lights. They claimed on a technicality that the time between the two parts illuminating was too big a gap, when the indicators were on as hazard warning.

MK7R 3 Years on. Who’s bored / ready to change?
Ben replied to Msportman's topic in VW Golf R MK7 Chat
Know what you mean, my wife’s Citigo is in the garage and fits very nicely, trying to get my R in there just ain’t worth the hassle. It will go in but millimetres to spare, ironically the previous owner used to fit his 80’s Volvo estate in there easily, just shows how porky modern cars have become. -
That Golf image above is very much in keeping with current VW design trends, so probably not too far off what it may look like.

See the US have had a recall on the 2018 Golf R and S3’s over a fuel pipe. wonder if it will affect uk models?

I bought it as a pre reg from Derby and drove it back down to southwest, noticed when reversing on near full lock it knocked and rumbled like a cv joint going. My local Ford dealer accepted it was faulty but told me they couldn’t or wouldn’t do anything about it had it for 2 weeks and said it was a characteristic of my car, live with it. In the meantime, I also had an issue with the rear bumper; it was nearly red when the rest of the car was molten orange. The Ford body shop took photos and sent them to Ford uk warranty, who agreed it was out of tolerance and would be repainted under warranty. The Ford body shop resprayed the bumper twice, managed to get white paint speckles all over it under the lacquer and couldn’t polish them out without taking the paint off to nothing, they oversprayed everywhere and to add insult cut 2 x small Stanley blade type cuts in my back window. I refused to accept the appalling paint job and they refused to accept that they had been anywhere near my car with a sharp knife....had a massive row with manager called him a c..nt and walked out, took car as needed it that weekend. Drove to VW and bought a brand new (demo with 200 miles) Golf R for a silly low price and was given a good px on the Fez, as it was. VW put it out to Mannheim auction and another (Cornwall) Ford garage bought it, they ended up replacing the steering rack before they could sell it but did it under warranty. The paint was never corrected, the new owner contacted me and I explained what they had done, he sorted it out himself, luckily he had access to a body shop. -

I really enjoyed my short ownership of my 2015 Fiesta ST3, seats were a tiny bit tight but my bag for having a fat arse 😜 Drive wise it’s chassis was brilliant gave loads of feedback and was great fun to drive, just such a shame my local Ford dealer messed up so badly that I went after 9 weeks 😩 I get where your coming from though 👍
