Planning on getting some new alloys and I really like the Momo Revenge Matt Anthracite

1. What offset would be best? 45, 48 or 50? Im thinking 48 because I'm sure stock Cadiz is 49.

2. I believe I can only get 8" width so my 225/40/18 tyres should be okay shouldn't they?

I won't be lowering the car either just an alloy swap.

Cheers.

The greatest (least in numerical value) offset the Golf 7R can cope with on unmodified suspension without the need for some work on the largest recommended tyre - 235/35 on a 19" dia wheel 8.5" wide is 45 offset front, 35 offset rear. [The wheelbase is 1" narrower at the rear so this addresses most of that very minor problem] Anything less than that in terms of both wheel and tyre size and width will be fine. If you're planning lowering springs etc. at any time in the future you'' have to pull back a bit depending on what you fit. 225 or 235/40 18" tyres are ideally suited to an 8" wide rim. Good luck!

Thanks mate! This is a first for me I’ve never upgraded alloys so I didn’t realise all the different aspects of choosing them, I want to get it right so I don’t affect the performance or health of the car.

Ive found a retailer offering me the following fitments specifically for my car:

18 x 8 - ET48 (all round)

18 x 8 - ET48 (front) / ET45 (rear)

18 x 8 - ET50 (all round)

18 x 8 - ET50 (front) / ET48 (rear)

I was thinking 48 all round would be best but would you recommend different? Like I say I’m keeping the 225/40/18 tyre setup and don’t want any negative interms of performance excluding the weight of the new alloys.

You would hardly notice a difference between ET45/48. If it were me I’d go ET48 all round (based on above options) so you can swap front to back tyres to even out wear. Not sure on Momo centre bore but worth checking this as you’ll likely need spigot rings. VW is 57.1mm.

Indeed, not much to choose between them really but of these options I'd tend to favour ET48 front and ET45 rear (since the rear track is 12.5 or 12.7mm narrower per side than the front so you might as well close the gab a wee bit if it doesn't cost anything.
