  1. Hi guys, I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a UK supplier for the SRS Tec spoiler extension? I've had a quick search with no luck as of yet. I'm happy to order direct from Germany if that's my only option but thought I'd ask first. Cheers
  2. So I'm deciding whether to buy a 2015 MK7 Golf R white for £17,400 with 29k miles (private) OR 'Approved Used' 2015 Lapiz Blue MK7 Golf R for £19,100 with 12k miles. The approved used one is from a dealer so it comes with 12 months warranty which I would've bought (extended warranty for a year) so it saves me ~£630. All the other MK7 Golf Rs I can see for sale are around £18,000 for 2015 with 30-40k mileage and £19,000 for 2016 models with roughly the same mileage. I will be selling the car in a years time so I'm not too sure which one to go for? This might be a dumb Q but does mileage outweigh the reg/production year even if the car is lower mileage than the 2016 higher mileage? I will probably do max 7000 miles in the year. Also, if the Used Approved ones are ex-demos should I avoid them?? Been looking for quite a while so would appreciate your suggestions- many thanks!
  3. Just got my renewal Quote from Adrian Flux for my Mk7 R . They came in at £500 over the other quotes Ive had. Asked for a better deal and got nothing. This is my 7th car I've insured with Adrian Flux (everyone from Clio Williams to M3's in the past) - but their customer service was appalling. First time they haven't matched or got close to a renewal quote and the advisor wasn't even interested in trying. I won't be using them again. Anyone else have an insurance company they would recommend? Direct Line are offering the best terms at the moment.
  4. Hey guys. Any good repair shops around Toronto area that specialize in WV? Just asking in case I need some work done on my Golf R. The warranty is almost done so I'll be looking for some private places for any future repairs/diagnostics. Thanks.
  5. Hi everyone, i have a very strange knocking noise coming from the front of my car when i am lighly feathering the accelerator (around 1500 revs) and it also happens when the car is slowing down from a low speed. I have taken it to VW this morning for a general health check in which they said they can hear the noise but can't see what it would be and that it requires further inspection. The car is a 2016 Mk7 R with 19000 miles on it so not enough for long term wear and tear. I have a video of the noise but i cannot attach it to the post so if anyone would like to hear the noise if it would help them determine what it is i can email it or send it in some other way to you directly... Any help would be grately appreciated!
  6. Hi guys i have some vwr springs that need fitting Going to have a go at fitting with the help of my mechanic friend can anyone send me a link to, or able to give me some basic instructions of how to fit them, it would be a massive help cheers Sam
  7. Hi, I've got a Golf R (66 plate) Mk7 upgraded to a 7.5. Virtual Cockpit and Sat Nav have been installed. I'm getting the below: 1) CORNERING LIGHT (AFS) error message 2) When applying the full beam headlight to flash, the blue logo appears on the virtual cockpit however the headlight beam does not occur. Has anyone else had this issue when upgrading.
  8. Hi guys long time reader, first time posting. Just wondered if anyone knows where to get an Aspec style spoiler in the uk? Ive seen a previous post from last year but seemed to reach a dead end and thought i would ask the question again. Ive seen them on Ebay but don't fancy ordering one from china for it to come in poor condition or finish after a 2 month wait. Ive attached some pictures from the previous post of @BexMk7‘s car to show what I'm after. And if they could see this and give me a hint that would be even better!
  9. Hello all, New to the forum here! I have a stage 2+ mk5 gti (great car) and I am about to take the plunge on a 64 plate (2014) mk7 R. Its a 3 door blue DSG in great conditon with 35k on the clock. My main concern with it is the turbo issues that VW had around the time. I believe early 2014 turbos where the 702n version (Bad one apprently) The first registration date was 16/12/14 (so late 2014). Do you think this is more likely to be the newer version? With the mileage it has on it already it also sounds it could be ok. I only ask becasue I will probably go down the stage 2 route. Thanks, Jack
  10. Just picked up my 2014 MK7 R in Tornado Red. It’s a 5door DSG with Vienna Leather and sitting on VWR springs.
  11. My car had its first MOT last Friday morning and passed with flying colours. I really needed tyres but couldn't get the desired ones fitted in time for the test so had to improvise and borrow the wheels off my brother's 2017 Scirocco Rline. I absolutely love them on the Mk7 and think the stance they give the car is epic!
  12. So as you’re all probably guessing the dreaded time has come and my clutch has slipped a couple of times🙄 i am am running a JB4 on map 6 so that didn’t help, it slipped twice, the second time I had to confirm I wasn’t seeing things. As as soon as I confirmed it I’ve set myself back onto Map 0 (stock form). I need advice on what clutch to get, if I’m honest it’s a call for help as I can’t make my mind up because the Internet is so divided on opinions! I’m stuck between Sachs organic or sintered; from what I’ve heard the organic is ideal, but after stage 1 it’s on it’s limit. I keep convincing myself the sintered will be future proof as it does hold an impressive torque figure but I can’t decide!😅 And another question for all you mechanically minded people out the who have taken on this job we’re there any difficulties removing the gearbox? Or have you any links to guide me in the right direction. thanks in advance, Dom
  13. Introduction Good Evening Fellow R owners. I have just created an account after trawling through these forums for a few weeks. I have read through plenty of users posts and I'm amazed by what different people have managed to do to their cars! I'm looking for some guidance as to what modifications to do to my R. I will hopefully become a regular member of the forum 👌 Modifying my R I have a 2014 Manual MK7R and I'm looking into modifications but can't decide on what to go with. I have had my car since Sep 17 and haven't made any modifications to it yet. I would like my car to be faster throughout the rev range, to be more visually aggressive/appealing and to be louder whilst maintaining half decent MPG (for the power of the R). Stage 1/2 - APR or REVO? After reading user posts I'm edging towards APR. My previous car was mapped by REVO but I've heard better things about APR. Is there any pertinent information I should know before deciding this? -Stage 1 or 2? Ideally I would like to go to Stage 1 first and then potentially upgrade to Stage 2. With REVO you can just pay the difference between stages, is this the case with APR? Hardware Upgrades -Although they aren't required, is it recommended to upgrade any components for Stage 1? (IE a clutch uograde for manual transmission) -Short Clutch Stop? Are they worth it? Which would you buy? -Short shifter? Are they worth it? Which would you buy? -Uprated clutch? Is this recommended for even Stage 1? If so, which would you buy? -New intercooler? Which to buy? -New air intake system? Which to buy? Making my car louder -Would a res delete and turbo muffler delete be enough or do I need to either get a downpipe or whole new exhaust system? Are there any recommendations of which of these to get and where from? Visual Appearance -I'm going to get my rear windows 95% or 100% tinted. Could anybody recommend a shade to use or where to get these done? -Is there any modification I could make which would greatly enhance my car visually? Im considering Brembo drilled brake discs and red callipers. THANK YOU for taking the time to read my post! I apologise for how long it is. I would greatly appreciate any advice given. Please feel free to add photos below. I'm from near York and I'm also in Suffolk quite a lot. Any recommendations taking into account my location would be much appreciated. James 😊
  14. Alright guys, after some advise...coming up to renewing my tyres on my mk7R, currently have contisport contact 3 235/35/19 on now they're 165 quid a pop brilliant tyres like just wondering if anyone else has any recommendations for other brands that are just as good? Thanks
  15. Hey guys, I've been going up and down wanting to buy coilovers for the past few months but with a little one and a wife who uses the car everyday, doing 60 odd miles, I keep thinking coilovers will be too harsh of a ride, which is why I haven't bought them. I've read some reports about the KW Street Comforts and I want to see if there are any reviews here. This sounds stupid but i would love to lower my car more than my Eibach springs yet be comfortable like stock..is that even possible?
  16. hi guy's im new to the forum, I have had my 2015 mk7 golf R for nearly 2weeks now and all I can say is im in love... What a machine it is!! Its a 2015 completley stock R with 19k Miles with full dealer service history. Plans are to carry out subtle mods but everything seems pricey for these cars.. Im from west london area and would love to maybe meet up with a few local lads and have a catch up. Here is a pic of my car
  17. Anyone got the revo intake? Much difference in performance/noise/economy? Hard to fit? Thanks
  18. Heard a few stories that eco mode isn't actually worth it? Wondering how everyone else is getting the best mpg out of there R's? And how much you seeing on a steady run? Touchy subject for some of you petrol heads but unfortunately I commute 100miles a day haha. Thanks
