Holidays

Travel a lot for work, normally 15-20 long hauls each year, Africa, Oz, Asia, US, Central America, Caribbean etc., and just find flying boring most of the time, especially when i’m in third long haul in a month and have seen all the films.

Company buy seats to left of the door on 4hrs+ flights, so not too bad. Emirates first class is bearable though. I had a shower on my last flight home from DXB. 😎

Either fly business class on hols or premium with Tui if on package. Well worth the extra few hundred £. After all the time on planes I won’t do long flights at the back. Would rather not travel.

We do Greek Islands in Sept and long haul in Feb each year. Been to Kenya, Cuba, India, Mexico, Mauritius and a few others in recent years. Trying Costa Rica next Feb.

I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have a job where you travel all over the world. Unfortunately I don’t have a job like that but the misses and I try to get away 2-3 times a year. Usually a 2 week holiday in the summer then some city breaks in between. Quite often I enjoy a city break more than a big holiday.

Last year we went to Barcelona and Mexico. This year we went to Kraków in February (Coldest I’ve ever been!), New York a few weeks back where I finally proposed to her after 10 years together 😂 and in September we’re going to the Dominican.

So many places I want to go and see. I’m 28 now and as much as we both love our holdiays the misses is on about having children which will obviously tie us down a bit more 😫.

Congratulations on the engagement!!

I'm also 28, the wife is 26, her parents are asking about babies but thankfully she's NOT interested in them at all. 😁

Went Puerto Vallarta 2 years ago thinking of going again this year, people seem to overlook the Pacific side for some reason , where did you stay?

Fabulous time we had in puerto Vallarta in 1994 . visited chichen nitsa when you could walk up the steps and into the building at the top.

very spooky place back then but super interesting with what went on there back in Mayan times .

visited tulum and remember snorkelling in escaret and off the barrier reefs with spectacular fish and did a trip to isle of meyers to dive and swim with dolphins. Great trip that.👍👍👍

Give them time chaps!

Tbh everyone at my daughters pre school is amazed at all the place smy daughter has been - she starts school in september though - so as you can imagine, no where exotic for a few years!

Over the years done quite a few places but still a long list to do!

Just with my daughter (so last 4 years), Dubai, Mauritius, Florida x 2 (once disney other time seaworld etc), San Diego, Mexico (not cancun the other resort Rivierea Maya?), Tenerife x 3, lanzarote, isle of wight x 2 (well it is across some water!), disneyland paris, paris once. I have to get away every 6 months if possible.

With me and the wife over the years, dominican republic, St Lucia (where we got married), mexico cancun, la, san francisco, las vegas x 3, yosemite national park and death valley with vegas once, did a fly drive for florida doing the keys, miami, clearwater, daytona beach, and many other places, think we have been tenerife about 6 times, Sharm El Sheikh (never again), think we did florida about 4 times in that time as well.

To do, Cape Verde, Sri Lanka, Thailand, possibly goa, aussie land at some point, other trips will be europe due to school holidays pricing structure.

I can't be in this country too long - there is a whole world out there to explore, I am lucky in when my dad was alive, we always managed to go on holidays abroad, tbh the UK is hit and miss with the weather - we have 3 uk holidays to go this year.

I reckon if I added up all our holidays cost over the 11 years I have been with my wife we could have repaid the mortgage!

Yosemite is amazing.  Drove up there from San Franciso for the day.  Was 23c in San Fran and it was 3c and snowing in Yosemite!  Did Vegas, Hawaii and San Fran on that holiday.  Would love to go back to Hawaii.

I proposed to my wife in Yosemite - we will be taking my daughter at some point.

One of our favourite holidays - we left Death Valley it was 41c, arrive Yosemite it was about 7c - snow everywhere - it was one of th ebest times to go as the waterfalls were so forceful from all the snow melting, must dig out the photos - we still talk about it now. ALl we had was a kia optima I think - called it "juicy" as last three letters were jcy.

Thanks Ash.

You’re both the same age as the misses and I.

Haha lucky you! Our nephew entered the world last year and as much as we love him its nice to give him back at the end of the day. Not sure parenting is quite for me yet 😂

Yosemite is on my list. When doing things in the US I try to tag a few days on the end to have time to explore.

It doesn't always work though, last time I was in California I finished my shoot but had to be back in London for another shoot within 48 hours, otherwise that would have been perfect to take a drive out there. Next time...

To be honest it sounds great if you are not the one doing it.

Been travelling globally for work for 25 years now. Just see the inside of a lot of planes and one hotel is just like another. At first it’s glamorous, then after a while you just want a clean bed and a decent shower, get the trip over and get home.

also miss a lot, the kids growing up, school stuff etc.

Pays the bills and end of the day just a job

For me, traveling for work doesnt mean you always get to see that much of the countries you visit.  It does often mean, delays, cancelled flights, business parks, corporate hotels etc.

Better to travel for leisure and to understand that you just not going to see all the world, so dont try to.

Unless you want to that American thing of Europe, 22 countries in 22 days.

Slow leisure travel is better.  More time in less places.

Travel whilst you can roam free.

I got three.  It's a game changer - fiscally, spontaneity, and flexibility all shift.

But there are plenty other benefits. 😍
