Used Values

Just put my reg into WBAC and to my surprise had £22685 returned. I say surprised because I got quoted 23k through the same source back in March.

With all the covid doom and gloom I was expecting it to have dropped off a cliff. What's going on with used values?

It's a 2018 Indium Grey with Prets

November last year I got offered £10k part ex for a highish spec 2015 Golf R manual with 60k miles against a 2019 model,

Last week Audi offered me just short of £14k against an S3,

Think it may be due to supply / demand, presently can't buy a new Golf R so secondhand ones are the only option ?

What is the non trade in discount against the S3?

This is what matters, the S3 may have more movement in price.

for example, if the S3 had a bottom line discount of £3k, then it’s not quite same story as if the Golf had £1k movement.

list price on used is a bit like list price on new, no one really pays it.

i don’t think used values have settled down yet, there is likely a wave of redundancies coming once furlough fully ends, and eviction notice comes back in to play.

Also the financial market has not really sorted its self out with post lockdown.

I think everything is a bit unknown, and individuals need to really investigate the market place for best time to sell and buy.

Just sold mine to WBAC, as I’m barely using it these days. Offered 18k, and got pretty close on the day. Only front stone chips, a little scratch on rear bumper And short MOT (2 months) which they could complain about.

doubt I’d have got that privately, even after several time wasters.

2015 (65) with 29,500 miles.

that's interesting. Just put mine into WBAC and comes back as 17,650 before they knock it down as they always do

25k on the clock 2016 lapiz estate with prets. Would have expected more if you managed 18k

yeah I agree. Couldn’t believe how much I got for mine, couldn’t turn down the offer. Especially as VW offered me 19k for it, nearly 2 years ago!

That’s a good price!  Sorry to hear you’ve parted with your R Graeme.  Are/have you replaced with anything?

Thanks Rebecca, me too. Very hard decision, but it’s become an expensive garage ornament and we are planning a house extension for early next year so could do with the cash.

I may find myself driving my sisters (formally my mum’s) Aygo for the few trips out I do these days. I’ll stick around on here though - May be tempted by another in future, possibly a Mk8, when the looks have grown on me.
