Doohie
Had recently suffered from a slight slipping clutch at 75 mph in 6th gear. Were seated with 5 people in the car..now 2500 miles. will follow up Update Tested yesterday the car and he did it again. remarkable.. was only evident when the oil temperature was 80/90 degrees at 56mp/h around 2200 rpm.. go deeper into the throttle the refs varies about 500 rpm, once the oil above 100 degrees the clutch no longer slips. Update II Today, the car goes in to the dealer for a diagnosis/repair Of course, as always, if you end up going to the garage ... the clutch are no longer slips Wonder how this story will turn out. Update III To have been received after a first time, the car is back at the dealership The first time they have deaerated the hydraulic system that operates the clutch.. they have the car tested on some sprints in 3rd and 4th gear and encountered nothing..thought this was over...until I drove at home by 75 mph/3000 rpm the cluth just did the same as before. I have filmed in the case the cluth is not doing it again but luckily it did happen again during the test drive. Meanwhile, they have taken the gearbox out and the entire cluth will be renewed. One problem..the pieces are not in stock.. Last Update The progress can be followed here...which finally ended well

dinz14
My R is booked in with VW next week after my electric mirror 'knob' broke on Friday I've had a problem with it since new, in that the folding mirrors never work when I need them to (lots of tight country lanes around here). I had the same problem coming home from work on Friday, so I turned the knob around 360 degrees a couple of times as usual (it seems to work sometimes!), only this time I heard a small 'cracking' noise and the knob now just 'freewheels'. I'm stuck with no electric folding or adjusting mirrors now, though thankfully the internal motors are still doing their bit when the car locks/unlocks. Hopefully it won't be a drawn-out saga
VvrooomM
Known VW weakness on the 6 you'd have thought they'd fix it for the 7 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

TP27
Don't know about anyone else but the lack of door 'catch' (when opening the door) on the 3 door R is driving me mad. At least on the Mk6 R, if you opened the 3-door model the door would catch at two intervals so it did not just "hang loose" and get caught and thrown open by the wind. I've now had the door crack against an object (wall most recently) 'cause you cannot fix/secure the door at intervals when open - driving me nuts!! A huge design flaw IMHO. Anyone else ?? Off to order up a "touch-up" pen.

Off to order up a "touch-up" pen. Totally agree on this. Already had the door bang onto someone's legs when getting in. Really poor design. Yet more cost cutting? TP27
Yet more cost cutting? Not sure but it drives me nuts !!! It's worse when you have a passenger - I know on the drivers side to 'hold onto the door' but they don't and the door can act like a leaf in the wind. Come on VW, this is not good...........................!!!
Marko
mines due in tomorrow to get the spoiler side bits sorted, they are saying its the heat melting the glue but on a 30k car its a poor show espescially after under 4 weeks of ownership

I think a lot of people were suffering these rear side spoilers coming loose well before we had all this hot weather.
simpleR
Had my spoiler sides re-attached last week. The official fix is leave the current tape on the windscreen and re-bond it. Mine is rock hard and all OK.
R400
The seemingly long list of problems reported on forums for the G7R is quite shocking. Cheap paint, glued-on spoilers, etc. Those are the kinds of problems that used to be associated with TVR, not VW.
dinz14
Had my mirror switch replaced under warranty today, although I asked them to look at the drivers-side wiper which leaves smudges but they insisted it's a wear & tear item and that i'd have to pay for it - as if! I didn't bother with an argument as it's not a massive problem but I can't believe they'd expect me to pay for a faulty wiper blade on a 5-week old car! Cheeky beggars
