Finally got home after being stuck for a few days after Heathrow fire.

Audio settings are HK! All good. Can now get to know the car after 3 weeks of it sitting on my drive!

Also got the boot liner, sun blinds and a phone cable.

Good to hear all is it should be with the HK. Also good you got the extras.

Enjoy getting to know your car. 😊

Interesting, thank you.

So, what does the P (parking) button do ?

So the car menu is like another pull down menu, in addition to the actually pulled down one ?

Does the “lower mirror in hear R” allow you ot have it working even when the mirror adjustment knob is in the middle position ?

I love the mirror dip but hate it when I accidentally move it because it is not in the middle.

The P button brings up the Parking screen for features such as Parking Assist (Plus version on my car) and other parking related things.

The Vehicle (car) is not a pull down, but if you tap the car icon at the on the top line) it brings up a small favourites pop up screen.

No the mirror knob still has to be in L (on RHD car) for the mirror to lower in R. Tried it with the knob in middle position and mirror didn’t move.  Seems a pointless ‘favourite’.

So there are now both a pull down Shortcuts menu and a Favorites (car) menu

But in actuality they serve a similar purpose just with different options

Is that correct ?

Yes that sums it up!

For me it’s the favourites bar along the top that is most useful, followed by the Vehicle (car) shortcuts pop up menu if needed.  I will rarely use the pull down shortcuts menu.

In some ways they’ve managed to give more ways to access shortcuts whilst over complicating accessing them.

Yep, that’s gets disabled at the same time as Lane Assist each journey.  The warning sound is pretty low volume but it’s still one sound too many.  😉 When I first collected the car and drove off from the dealership, I wondered what the hell the sound was. I found out swiftly how to silence it.  😄

The bongs drive me crazy too. Especially when coming from such an analogue car. I guess I’ll have to get used it… until it can be coded out 🙄

I'm not a religious man, but I pray every single day that someone will come up with a solution to SFD2 so that I can code out  Lane Assist and Speed Warning functionality 🙏

I’ve got into a routine of turning both off before every journey but it would be lovely to be able to just get in the car and not have to do that.

Not more complicated than a helicopter’s starting sequence …

Power on

Start/stop off

Assists off

Speed warning off

Drive mode selection (Indi for me)

CarPlay connect

buckle up

sunglasses on

engine on

gear in

let’s go …

A reduction of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th items on that list would be welcomed by me.  It’s not a helicopter.

So that's a 0-60 time of about 23 minutes.  Faster than a Lambo I recently saw Harry's Garage grappling with.

I just get in the car, start up and drive off. I did have one moment with the Lane Assist on the Mk8 R but so far no issues with the Lane Assist on the Mk8.5R. As I mentioned in previous posts for some reason the speed warning on mine seems to be not that intrusive.

One click of the assist button at the top of the screen and there it is, all in one place, down the list you go, Bosh!

For an old school guy that can struggle with tech, I don't find that much hardship.

It is easy enough, but it would be even nicer to have it coded off permanently and have to do nothing.

Sure thing, but do you not like the idea of being a fighter pilot 😂

Remember all the buttons Kit had ? and the Hoff meister managed it well.

Airwolf also had a fair amount of buttons and Stringfellow Hawk managed.
