AHG
I can attest that at least some of them saved me from costly damage, so while heart weakening in execution, they do their job well when needed (and sometimes when not needed, as well). I don’t turn off anything except start/stop (every time), but I have a friend (with mk8.5 GTI) who tuned off the auto-park system’s option to turn on automatically when it identifies a parking-like situation so it doesn’t interfere with maneuvering tight situations, and it helped a lot. And this choice stays permanently. Aaron7
Burble
I turn off the speed & lane warning stuff but often forget to do so before pulling away. One of the dashboard views lets you do that using the steering wheel buttons though so I can at least turn them off without taking a hand off the wheel Aaron7
AHG
I think all of them do the middle button on the left part of the wheel

At least on the 8.5.

On two of the dash view choices, you can bring up the Assists menu with buttons on right of steering wheel. @EXCESSIONOCP first discovered this method. https://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/46047-new-mk85r-operational-tips/?do=findComment&comment=675848 I’ve tried it a few times but actually find it quicker and easier to use the Assist icon on the top of infotainment screen, but I am understand why some prefer bpt to take hands off steering wheel. Tethias
Here's another one, is it possible to put the 8.5 into manual mode, without actually changing gear? Obviously pulling a paddle will put it into manual mode but sometimes i want to put it into manual without it actually changing down or changing up, depending on circumstance 🤪

To my surprise in the 8 it’s only in one mode (with rectangular things in the sides). And I indeed the right side arrows operate it.

They are so much more sensitive than my Mk7.5 Golf or my I30n, multiple times now they've engaged the auto emergency braking while I've been backing into a space, even with plenty of room behind/besides the car! Also can you adjust the volume of the "click" noise you get when pressing the haptic steering wheel buttons? The volume of the noise goes up with the volume of whatever you are listening to, so if you've had to turn up a very quiet audiobook, or something the clicks are painfully loud when doing anything on the steering wheel 😂 There is a way to stop the emergency braking when reversing. Press the park assist button (bottom left of the 4 touch buttons) Press the gear icon to go into settings Deselect emergency braking when reversing. Job done and you can now reverse you car without the car emergency braking, messing yourself thinking you have hit something. Its just another function i have to disable every time i go out in the car. MadMo, garykane1980, Mange and 1 other 3

If you hold down Upshift for a while, it returns to D mode from M. But for M mode, I haven't seen any option other than Up or Down Shift.
