andy35554 started following Pret 19” crack or manufacture defect?
-
Hi all, after mulling over it for a while I’ve invested in a set of 18” wheels for my 7.5R. My plan is to sell the gloss black 19” prets. The state of UK roads nowadays was the reason for the change. Anyway once I had the prets washed and cleaned I noticed what looks to be a small crack behind one of the spokes. Weird thing is the blobs that follow the crack. Can anyone advise me on what it is please? I had no issue losing tyre pressure. Cheers

Golf 7.5R Led headlights, built in cornering light
-
Hi all, long time member and lurker but infrequent comments. I have a 2019 7.5R (gpf) with the full LED headlights that auto full beam and don't dazzle oncoming cars etc. Dynamic/matrix? I have recently has the paintwork fully detailed and ceramic coated by a local detailer who also put "smoke ppf" on the front and rear lights at my request. With the black paint they look awesome but the headlights are slightly rubbish at night. I have adjusted the height as they also seemed a bit low (lowered springs fitted to the car too) and they are better. In the light cluster is a set of LED's which only come on when cornering and when reversing. Can these be switched on manually anywhere or via vcds? They are situated in between the inner and outer headlights. I would like them to come on when the dipped lights are on, staying off when only the DRL are on. I can provide a photo tomorrow as it's difficult to see right now at night if needed. Thanks

Helix Audio Upgrade Fitted - REALLY IMPRESSED
andy35554 replied to GE90's topic in Modifying your Golf R MK7
Hi all, I have managed to repair the pot and the amp is working but whatever I set the gain at i seem to get distortion through the tweeters. Apparently the box has been programmed but if it is programmed again will it sort the sound issue out with the tweeters? cheers -

thanks all, i have emailed AudiotecFisher so I will await their reply. Happy to buy a used helix dsp/amp set up but I can't find one. I want the lazy option of leaving the wiring harness and sub alone and just replace the dsp/amp. cheers -

Hi all, I have the boot mounted helix set up rather then the spare wheel version. My amp Gain pot has failed- fat fingers and rough n ready screwdriver. Red led changed from the usual green. No sound. Does anyone know where I can buY the Amplifier only? I’m sure it’s the same amplifier as the spare wheel version? Cheers -

Hi all, I current have a 2015 Lapiz Blue R which was in a the showroom pre ordered so I only had to wait a week or so for collection. What sort of lead time am I to expect if I ordered one say one day this week? I am terribly impatient but it would be nice to spec a few things on my order. cheers

Cornering Light? Have you left it stock or modified?
andy35554 replied to KARL_1406's topic in VW Golf R MK7 Chat
although there's nothing on the box about them being dimmable they came on and off gradually like the halogen lamp but maybe not quite as noticeable if that makes sense. They didn't suddenly come on full brightness anyway -

Hi, no warnings on the dashboard, they are not quite as bright as halogens but have a crisp white light nearly identical to the main headlamps. And for £13 or so off ebay they should last for years before "popping" like a lot of the "white halogen" lamps do. Incidentally halogen lamps always blow when they are switched on. Cornering lights are constantly switching "off and on" as you turn the steering wheel at night. So it's no wonder the halogen lamps don't last very long... a poor design by the car manufacturers. -

Hi, LED "bulb" manufacturers like to advertise all sorts of "watts" output for their products. Light output is measured in Lumens but since the dawn of time (well, when eddison invented the light bulb) we have been buying tungston (or halogen)element lamps which consume a particular amount of electricity which is stamped as watts on the packet.the more watts the brighter the bulb. Everyone is used to this format. For example the H7 halogen lamp is 55 watts, which is about 1500 Lumens. If you went to B&Q or halfords for a bulb and they were all stamped in Lumens 99.9% of people would have no idea what to get. Hence LED makers quote "watts" and these are wildly exaggerated for some strange reason. These particular lamps are about 8 watts real power and a claimed 1500 Lumens, the same as your standard H7 halogen lamp. In reality they are not quite as bright as a h7 halogen in my opinion but they are really good, consume about 15% of the power of a h7 halogen lamp and don't get anywhere near as hot. On a side note I have rewired these to be on all the time my headlights are on as they light up the side of the road really good! Great for foggy weather I hope. -

Hahah ok it's my all time 2nd best mod, after the pedal box I have got. Maybe I need to switch it off to remind myself how lame the accelerator pedal is in standard mode! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Tried it on mine yesterday. 2015 DSG model... seems to work ok and I hope it stays that way. I've always thought that it prematurely cuts the engine off and it has frustrated me many times in the past. My all time best mod so far. ! [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Chain reaction cycles bike bag has worked me me for years with the added advantage you can use it when you change your car. No need for new roof bars etc. I prefer the bag as I would hate for the bike to fall off due to some over enthusiastic driving. Or line a work colleague did, forgot it was on top and went into a multi storey car park!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
