Check the two rubber things which run between the car body and the boot lid (to carry cables etc). I had exactly that pattern of dampness and it was where I'd not properly cliped one of those back in properly after doing my rear dash cam install.

I have an Anker Roav C1 Pro in the front and a Mini 0805 in the back. The Anker has wifi for an app on your phone (iPhone at least) for configuration, upgrades and copying media off. Very happy with both. The power for both comes from Anker 12V dual USB adaptors, front and rear. The front camera cable runs under passenger floor mat and then inside the A pillar trim and across to the rear view mirror. I did a write up for the rear camera power here:

Just got back home to find next door (who are preparing to go on the market) have a guy pressure washing the house and pavement outside. "I'll move my car" "Oh I was going to wash it down for you afterwards" "No really, that's fine" Glad I didn't get round to washing it last weekend!

Westfield? I parked in a similar spot at Westfield when I was up in London for a couple of days (hotel offered only very expensive valet parking) and returned to the car to find they'd painted the pillar I'd parked next to, with bonus paint splatter for the car!

White Mk7 with a *VWW (I think) numberplate as a parking buddy next to me at ASDA when we came out after shopping. Night blue 3dr Mk 7 on the A358 coming into Taunton from the Wellington side on Monday, spotted in passing while out on the bike. Night blue Mk7 (possibly the same as Monday's) on Tuesday, on the roundabout at the bottom of the A38, again while I was on the bike. Didn't get much more of a look, just caught the headlights really while I was trying not to get run over (e: it wasn't the R trying to run me over)

I have front and rear cams and they unplugged them for the my recent service it seems... I have the footage of the guy who picked it up/dropped it off doing that, but there's nothing between when he pulls into their car park, and when he starts the drive back to me. Guess he didn't care but the technicians did! (And I only checked out of curiosity heh)

I don't have keyless on the Golf, but on the Corrado you can unlock the boot lid with the key without triggering the central locking, so that when you slam the boot lid it's locked again (as is the rest of the car), so — especially before I got a 2nd key cut — I got into the habit of holding the car keys in my hand furthest from the car and double-checking that I was doing so before shutting it.

After a quick wash this afternoon, it seemed like a nice evening for a drive onto Exmoor.
