Help! Launch control problem

Ok, so I've not had my R long. 16 Dsg with 15K and a really cared for car.

I read the manual one day about the launch control and had to try it.

Tc, one short press

Race mode on

Dsg to manual

Foot on brake

Foot on throttle

Go! All's good as it was fast and no apparent problem

I got the Revo stage 1 last week and tried the launch that day. Really quick and all ok.

I tried it 2 days ago and Im not sure but I think I left it in individual mode which I have the same as Race bar the gearbox being in sport. A second after launch the car seemed to cut the power for a few tenths while still in first gear and then it went again. I thought this odd but thought maybe it should be in race mode or maybe the Tc needs to completely off.

Last night I tried launch again and again had it in individual mode but with the Tc completely off. It initially went great but again after a second it cut the power but this time it seemed to keep the revs at about 4000 but lost all drive for half a second, then it went again as normal. It was like the dsg had lost first gear!!!!

I should have tried it again last night with race mode on but I was fearfull of it. I probably need to do that to at least rule it out.

I'm concerned about it. Is it simply me not putting it race mode or is something wrong?????

As per owners manual, only conditions for launch are TCS off (short or long press will achieve this) and gear selector in S.

(eta - can be tiptronic pos too after checking)

I seem to have to select/re-select S after switching TCS off to activate, after that, I can activate launch, even in eco.

Must be in race mode

Traction control switched off - yellow indicator shows this inside rev counter

DSG to S

Left foot hard on brake

Right foot press accelerator to the floor, observe around 4000 rpm then release brake

I'll try it again and definitely have it in race mode, the traction control does not seem to matter wether it's reduced or off completely.

If it does the same thing again, cutting the power,in race mode then I have a problem!

All this is  b0llocks about it must be Race mode. . .

Its DSG into SPORT that important (it will launch in eco mode if DSG is in S).

What you are experiencing is the ESP intervening because your losing traction too much (still does it with ESP OFF) Mine does it on wet slippy roads if launching at 4,000 revs.

I hope your right! It was getting wheelspin the last 2 times I launched it but I prefer it to get wheelspin as it's much easier on the car than a grippy dry road.

Short press and long press are both TCS off, difference is ESC sport and ESC off.

That's clearly not the issue, the question I have is what's causing the power to cut out a second after launch while still in 1St gear.

It's either.......

- the mode which I doubt

- Wheelspin cutting it as it is slippery when I've launched it

- Or a fault with the car
