Agentfruit - picked up the car 3 days ago - THE SQUEAK HAS GONE!!!!

Just hope it stays that way!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the help!!!

Omg that is FANTASTIC! Looks like they spent some effort tracking it down. So glad it’s sorted 😊

Handy thread this one.   Been hearing pretty much the same thing (small squeak/creak when going over speed bumps) since i bought mine a few months back.  Doesnt happen often enough for me to remember to do something about it but often enough to annoy me.

Car due to go in for a service soon so hopefully i'll remember to get this checked out too.

I’ve tried to find if this has been answered before, basically when in drive along my cul-da-sac over the speed bumps a lot low speed, when my front wheels hit and the suspension compressors it sounds a bit squeaky, it seems to happen more when cold, I have DCC, is this normal? It’s been like that since I picked it up in March (new).

Jack it right up and spray WD40 up onto the shocks and springs on each corner. Cheap and cheerful first. Then review.

Great idea but I would use silicon grease spray as WD40 wont last very long at all

Ha! I just saw the rest of this lengthy thread. Learned a bit from it too! I’m just waiting for the squeak to reveal itself- I may have heard it a very low speed trundling down our lane at low speed in the morning. Now I know that it’s the lower bushes...... Thank you.

  • 1 year later...

Depends very much on the dealer in my experience. If you mention the technical bulletin it might help your cause, plus maybe it would have happened earlier had we not been in lockdown and you'd done more miles, all worth a try

Plus you dont get if you dont ask... good luck

Sorry for major thread revival. I am suffering from the same creaky suspension.

What are the chances VW will fix this out of warranty?

I have just bought mine from an independent specialist, but the 3 year warranty expired at the end of May
I think most warranties were extended by maybe 3 months? Worth checking out

I have been trying to get this sorted for ages now. Sounds dreadful and much worse in comfort mode.
Exactly the same thing I'm having now! Hate that noise so bad! They took mine in 2 days ago and greased it up but a day later and it is still doing the same dam thing.

Will be on the phone to VW again tomorrow.

I never got it sorted. My new R doesn’t have DCC and it’s no where near as bad.
no way!
I'm hoping they can find a solution. I've read in various location where owners had the greasing done and all was well after and in some cases it doesn't. But after VW change the bushes, problem solved. I'm hopeful

To add to this thread. My car was suffering from the front end creaking when going slowly over bumps and rough surfaces. Issue was noticeably worse in dry conditions indicating issue likely to do with something requiring greasing.

Anyways, this morning i gave the front wishbone bushes and front arb bushes a spray with silicone grease and the car is now silent. I could have taken it to VW as the car is only 18 months old, but for the sake of a fiver and 5mins of my time I decided to try this first. Also I now know in future if the creaking comes back to just get the grease out and get spraying.

If anyone is suffering the same issues give this a try, I didn’t even need to take the wheels off, just turned them full lock one way and then the other.

Thats good to hear.

I don't suppose you  could show on a plan / photo where you sprayed can you?!? 😀
