Rwagon
Quite hard to capture nice bead shots on white paint. On a phone anyway. Here’s a couple of photos of the Golf wearing a coat of Tac Moonlight topped with a coat of CarPro Elixir. Moonlight went on early last week and Elixir late last week after a wash. Heres the Scirocco after the same Tac Moonlight but followed up with Beadmaker. It supposedly doesn’t have crazy water behaviour, but that looks good to me! Beads were collecting into a big one and just rolling off. Booth11

I think it is a question to be put to VW perhaps. Never like a pool of water sitting in an area on a car. Why don't you just lift one side to have a look? You could even prop it up so you have a void for the drill bit to go. If you unclip it as if you were going to remove it but without removing the wipers as this can be a pain you'll have enough movement in it to have a look and drill a hole without the fear of drilling through something important. I'd have to agree with you. When you look at videos of Beadmaker online (sad, I know) the water behaviour looks poor. I'm glad to see first person that it's actually very good. A point to note is that the golf was outside all night in the rain, the Scirocco was only outside for about 10mins when I took those photos. The Elixir seems to let the beads get bigger than Beadmaker does before they roll off. So I guess that makes BM better, in the summer anyway. I'm happy with both and will keep using each one on each car for a while, or at least until something else takes my fancy! I love how Matt Moreman from Obsessed Garage only uses one product for one task and sticks to that product. I'd like to do that but theres far too many to try, I'd be in my grave before I was content in trying enough to pick just one for each job 😂 Booth11

The joy of beads! 😁 One thing I love about beading is when the bonnet is full of beads and you drive off and they all wobble like crazy but somehow cling on for ages, then it becomes a mission to break their tenacity, so put foot down and watch them fly off! Sad, oh yes, but true! 😁 12 hours ago, Rwagon said: I love how Matt Moreman from Obsessed Garage only uses one product for one task and sticks to that product. But it is a big ask if you like trying different stuff. I used to test out loads of detailing products for research purposes and for some detailing product companies, and sometimes just for the hell of it, but after a few years I found that I wasn’t really having what I really wanted on the car for myself, as testing various things was detracting from it to an extent, so I pared right back and settled on products that really gave me what I was looking for and the last few years I’ve enjoyed sticking with those and super happy with results. I’ll always try out other things and new things and some will make it onto the ‘yes’ shelf and others won’t, but I’m content with a much smaller core of favoured products than in the past. Out of interest what are your go to polishing/cutting compounds?? My mate recently launched a trio of new polishing compounds , kind of made by detailers for detailers sort of thing . His go to products were always Koch Chemie and Mazerna but always thought there was room for improvement be it working temperature ranges or viscosity. I was talking to him about getting some experienced influencers to try them to spread word as I've seen first hand how someone respected on a forum can have a massive impact on sales (VXRMarc for example back in the day who went on to start Heavenly Detail) If your interested or willing I could speak to him about getting you a bottle of each of his trio over to you for testing? It varies and I swap around, but last few years I’ve been using Meguiars Microfibre DA system of compounds (and MF pads) which is from their pro line. It’s a pared down approach just using a cutting compound and finishing compound on microfibre pads, but designed to achieve very good results. It’s a system that requires quite a specific approach and prep but yields very good results in a streamlined system. This is it: The D300 correction compound is fantastic as it has a long working time is very low dust, has good viscosity and finishes down well. It also wipes off very very easily after each section is done. I’ve found it to be particularly good if you have to work outside (which I do) as it doesn’t dry out and can be used in warm conditions that other polishes are not suited to. I follow up with their D301 Finishing Wax which is a finishing polish that leaves a layer of protection behind but I panel wipe that off and choose my own wax. But I also like either Meguiars 205 or Sonax Profline Perfect Finish, for finishing, both are great finishing polishes and the latter a good one step polish if only light correction needed. I also use Rupes polishes now and then but they are really not good for use outside unless it’s not remotely warm. And I’ve tried used few others but the Megs above is my preferred choice. It sounds interesting that your mate is launching a line of his own polishes based on his experiences. I’ll drop you a PM about it Andy. Cheers for that idea. My thoughts were as to the water pouring through the hole onto what rather than drilling through something underneath (which I hadn't thought of - so thanks for pointing that out). Not sure how to unclip it though.

If you look at the scuttle from the front of the car, you will see there are clips at the front that slide over the scuttle, you just remove them. You may have to remove the rubber seal first, I’m not sure. 👍🏼 Daniel43

Booth11
Sometimes less is more with beading. This is all that’s left on the car after a nights’ rain (whole car covered) and a quick trip out this morning. Gyeon WetCoat doing its stuff! 😂 Starnzy, Count Drunkula and Rwagon

Count Drunkula
Gave the filthy beast a wash yesterday but didn't have the weather or time to put a coat of wax on , found a bottle of Autoglym Polar Seal in the garage I bought a while back so decided to cheat and use that 🤫 Came out of work this morning after a bit of overnight rain and the beading is actually quite tight , but to be fair the polar seal was applied ontop of a graphene enhanced ceramic coating. Nice Beads! My Partner proper wants an RS3 to replace our Scirocco R. Do you mind if I ask what you think of it and what car you came from? We also have a 7.5R estate, obviously the RS3 is the nice car in all ways but are they worth twice the price? Without slating your car, I feel the interior isn't up to scratch for £45-£50k car, do you also think the same? Id like to add, I've only been in an S3, but I'm assuming they are similar inside, but with some added alcantara. Thanks
