What's the current overall consensus of the Mk8.5 then?  Looking at ordering an Estate on a PCH Deal, and remembering how bad the Mk8's sounded with all the steering wheel issues etc, I thought I'd check in with all you Mk8.5 owners as to how good/bad it is.

Also, anybody know why currently on the VW website it says that Golf Estates are only available from Stock?  Have they paused new orders or something?

Thanks for any help, comments, feedback!!

I have experienced one instance of multiple errors on one journey, but nothing before or since.  Also experienced the paddle not working issue on one occasion, but seems like there’s a likely fix for that to be rolled pit in due course.  Those two things aside, no other issues so far.  Love the car!

Well, after it went in and everything was reset I had a drive down to London on Saturday. Half way down the M1 it pinged 4 times about not being able to show total distance and please attend workshop. Then just as I hit the M25 the rear windows started coming down and doors locking/unlocking.... oh the fun and shock at 70 miles an hour with that suddenly happening! :) Will get the car back in and phone VW Customer Services this time as it was just a pain driving around the M25 winding the windows back up 20 times.

How long are you going to put up with it before you decide enough is enough and move to a brand with less issues ?

Well, I've largely been driving VWs for 20 years, Golf, Jetta, Scirocco's and all without faults... so for the moment, I am willing to give them some more time to sort these issues out. I love the car other than these inconvenient faults, will see what their Customer Services say.

Has anyone with these bong issues also noticed that Start Stop functionality is no longer working? Honestly can't remember the last time it kicked in.

Car is finally at the dealership tomorrow, so I'll mention that as well.

No but then I turn it off at the start of each journey. I’ll resist doing that for a few journeys to see.

FYI if helpful: My stop/start hardly ever kicks in either. I put it firmly down to how much charge is held in the battery. I'm very low use / daily miles so my battery doesn't seem to get recharged enough to work the s/s. I'm not too concerned. I use a trickle charger once a week / fortnight to solve it and keep the battery healthy.

Thr car went into the dealership yesterday to look at the bongs issue.

The dealer called me late afternoon to ask if they could keep it another day because they hadn't been able to run all tests. But I said no because I need a car today and they were unable to provide a courtesy car.

So it's going back in on the 6th August.

It’s a pain they didn’t complete the diagnostics, especially as it was booked on ages ago. Did they say why they’d not been able to complete the tests?

6th August is a hell of a wait too. 🙁
