Sorry I'm not near my car to find out which one I had a feeling it could be something like this? I’ll play around with it later to see if I can find it in the assist menu? If that doesn’t work I might try cleaning the cameras, I think they’re on the rear bumper somewhere? All else fails I’ll just take it to the dealer, can’t be that big of a deal for them to fix, thanks for that..

I think the sensors for blind spot monitoring are concealed behind the rear bumper cover, roughly in the locations indicated on the picture below; If there’s not an option to turn on blind spot monitoring in one of the Assist menus, it looks as if a trip to the dealer might be necessary. Hopefully the dealer will sort it for you swiftly as you’ve only just taken delivery of your car and it should have been working when you collected it. Thanks for that, Yeh ill give it a crack myself if not ill take it to the dealer, its probably my favourite safety feature to have so I'd like to have it.. No cameras related to Side Assist, those are small radars located in the corner of the rear bumper, as @R_wannabe_owner noted. Don’t get mad at me asking, but, are you sure your car came with it ? I know EU-spec mk8s didn’t have them as standard and it was necessary to check them as an option (along with folding mirrors, which is what I did, cost 600€ more). Yes mine came with side assist, I'm sure this should be an easy fix, sounds like its just disabled in the settings? at least thats what I hoping lol

Hard reset later - no issues since. Fingers are definitely crossed. I’m definitely not touching Shop icon ever again. 😇 Scudgie and Booth11

GaryP
You lot are right putting me off ordering a brand new Golf R Estate that is about to hit the production line soon 😂. Contract Hire deal so wouldn't maybe feel as aggrieved about issues as if I'd put more money in to PCP/Buy the car - but even so - any way of getting in an R is not cheap relatively so you'd expect it to be of higher quality. My current Mk7.5 R Estate is faultless. Just need a replacement of something highly similar that I can put a towbar on, or has a towbar on already. A new R Estate hits all the buttons for driveabilty, power, space, looks (love a sporty estate) and affordable. M340i Touring would be the rival, but that comes with a bigger price tag! Noticed the other day on our ID.4 that when adjusting the drivers side door mirror the passenger side one also moves!! We then have to switch the mirror selector the Left mirror and correct that one. I mean that is just mental. Also notice occasionally when the front windows are open that when you pull the switch up to close it, that the window opens further.
