Not sure if this is a bug or not but I’ve had it from day zero, along with a host of other issues.

Basically, the speed dial looses all but one set of mph values. Could anyone confirm if this is expected?

I’ve had that happen a once (that I noticed) on my mk8.5  but it only lasted a couple secs.  Happened on the mk8 as well occasionally.

Yes mine does this. I'm sure it's intentional, probably to draw attention to the changing road sign speed limit?

I always thought Benny Leuchter worked that into the software for us all as a favour so that when we are “in the zone” and the coppers pull us over you can legitimately say “no” to the question they ALWAYS ask: “do you know why I’ve pulled you over?” 🤣

”Um no, sir, my speedo stopped working about 30, I have no idea what speed I was going!!”

It’s because of the adaptive cruise reading the road signs, you are cough doing 31 in a 20 now. It draws the red line to show where the speedo needle should be. Then fills the numbers back in. It is also now highlighting the new max speed.

A day of pesky little gremlins!

Driving along the motorway today and after about an hour or so driving, got an amber warming message ping up on dash to say “total distance could not be displayed - visit workshop”.  Pinged up twice then reduced to an amber warning symbol on dash for the rest of that journey.  Random but nothing alarming.

About half hour later, whilst cruising along, the rear passenger window randomly dropped open a couple of inches.  Closed it and a few mins later, did it again.  What followed was a mini war between me and the car to gain the upper hand on the window.  I’d roll it up, car would roll it down and so it went on.  Car changed tactics and decided to then roll both rear windows down. 😂  Eventually it seemed to accept defeat.  After stopping at motorway services for a break, on resuming next leg of journey, warning light had gone and did not reappear, and the windows resumed their passive state of being closed.

I know a few people have experienced the windows dropping so I now join that club.

Also around the same time I had a notification from Shop to tell me the Dynamic Lighting Trial had ended.  That ended months ago and at that time I had numerous notifications it had ended, but nothing since then….until today.  I tell you I reckon Shop is the root of all evil. 👿

For what it's worth, I've had Shop notifications come weeks late for other purchases & services, especially for cancellations.

Those windows would have me straight to the dealer though, surely that's a safety issue? That's concerning to hear.

Yeah the notifications are always pretty random but I had them all months ago and then it stopped…..until now.  😄

I’ll be booking it in for the windows when I return from my trip.  A few others on here have had the same issue so definitely something VW need to address, along with the paddle issue.  One day they produce a car that actually works.

I think it may be down to that passenger protection feature

(optional in EU)

it opens the windows 25% when an accident is suspected

Makes it possible for someone outside to reach in and open the door

Could be some residual flags that stayed on from the incident

I’d do a quick scan to see if that system is triggered somehow

Good suggestion, sounds plausible.  But… if it’s optional, then my car won’t have it.  The windows didn’t drop at the time of the accident and the other elements of that system weren’t activated, which you wouldn’t expect if it’s not been specced.

Stupid car!

I am convinced it's the battery, Rebecca. Perhaps the connection with the shop whilst the car is turned off is one of the reasons why?

My car went back in on Wednesday to look at the issue I first reported in April/May IIRC. Took the diag technician out in the car to explain what was happening, showed him my video evidence,  to which he replied I'll relay this to the master technician.

Cue, my car showing no activity on my Tracker App all day followed by the "we can't find anything wrong but we think your non-official VW tracker is the reason why your battery is draining". Didn't have the heart to tell him that VW don't have their own tracker - they use an aftermarket offering from Meta fitted by the same people who fitted mine.

Didn't get the Odis report I requested and, to cap it off, the short but sweet customer invoice saying that the car is fine, there's no faults, is for a totally different Golf to mine (a 2015 Golf 2-door cabriolet).

One positive, the Stop/Start started working the minute I pulled up at the junction to leave the garage 🤣

I'm now super careful trying to avoid actions that would drain the battery. Things like unlocking the car then placing the kays in a faraday pouch when I'm washing it to prevent the audio system turning itself on every 5 minutes. It seems to be working - no bongs fest for some time but I still get the occasion dreaded  shop message and paddles issue.

I am drained with VW altogether. I love my car and will keep it unless something serious (mechanical) goes wrong with it. It's too much to get a straight answer from them. They just don't know what they're doing.

What a frustrating experience with the dealership John.  They really haven’t got a clue have they.  But even this goes beyond the normal incompetence with the wrong car invoice.  Really destroys what little shred of confidence there might have been. Pathetic!

These things could well be battery related as was my first suspicions when I had my bongfest moths ago.  Start Stop has been active on all journeys recently after weeks of it MIA, but yesterday on a 5 hour drive up north, it was unavailable at all times. Which was a bit annoying as the only time I ever want it to work is when I’m stuck in traffic jams on motorways as was the case several times yesterday. 😂 The crossed out A symbol you normally get when it’s not active was not on the dash, but when I tried to turn it on it kept coming up with a message to say function not available.  At least the ACC was working. 😅

Start Stop is working today of course!

I love my car too but it’s just ridiculous that VW seem incapable of delivering a working car and dealerships are clueless. Top down incompetence.

@Booth11 @Scudgie I hear your pain. And sympathise particularly with the appalling dealership experience.

VW have designed an aesthetically beautiful beast of a car, and most of the hardware is fundamentally sound (engine, AWD, DSG etc.), but the software is undercooked, buggy sh*te!

I’m convinced it’s partly battery related, and error strewn software, so I trickle charge mine quite often. Say every two weeks depending on my mileage in between. On the whole, the car seems happier. However this still hasn’t fully eradicated the odd error messages I get. And my stop/start system often won’t engage even on long trips. Hey-ho.
