PJD
Hi All, Just read all 37 pages of this and the most interesting thing I noticed is how some of you, who have done this service more than once, have mentioned how dirty the filter has been the second or third time. I have also watched a few videos on cleaning this filter and noticed that the most important things to remember is always undo the filler plug before the drain plug so you don't get stuck with no Haldex oil. If you decide to remove the Haldex pump from the car, always push the wiring plug in at the circuit board before lifting the tab to remove it. If you can get compressed air into the filling hole, you will be surprised how much crap will still come out. Best to close the drain plug and fill with a tiny bit of oil and then let it out again with compressed air to clean inside. You don't need to start the engine to prime the Haldex pump, just switch on the ignition and then off it a few times and you should then be able to top up the oil with an extra 100 + ml. This video show a Haldex 5 being serviced on a Tiguan motion, but the handy tips I mentioned above and more are worth watching if you decide to DIY. Chuckice72
Damn I should have took a picture of mine 40000 miles and 40000 launches later. I now service my haldex including cleaning screen every 10,000 miles. I know it's going to cost me but I can stop launching have to.do it at least once a week. DustyBones
I plan to do the Haldex filter at the same time Big Ron gets his engine oil changed. Probably excessive...but will give me that fluffy feeling of happiness. Chuckice72 and 123HJMS 1
PJD
Had my first Major Service, 3 years from new on my car last week. I asked the dealership if they will clean the Haldex filter when they change the Haldex oil and they said yep will do. These are the before and after photos from my Golf 7.5 with approx 9,500 miles. VW Marshall Loughton did the Haldex service including filter screen for £80 all in. Booth11, Kevmoz and NRW
Martin2
My wife has just booked the car in for a service / first MOT and first Haldex service which is probably well overdue at 27k miles. She was briefed on what was needed and I'm pleasantly surprised that the service advisor didn't argue about cleaning the filter. She said that it was a strange request and funnily enough a guy who booked his car in yesterday asked for the same thing and it wasn't a problem for them to do it and she read out what she's entered onto the service sheet. I was even more surprised when the price was £79 which is what I expected for oil change only. Booth11 and gregozedobe 1

Who is this accommodating dealership/garage? Well, it's not done yet, but does sound very promising and I've really liked this dealer from the first time we contacted them. It's Parkway Kettering. We bought the car through a broker and decided to switch to my wife's plates post delivery. For mild OCD related reasons, I prefer to have (discreet) dealer plates on my cars so we ordered a set from Parkway pretty much at random, as we have 2 other dealerships a similar distance away. Went in to pick them up and they hadn't drilled them because they wanted to see the car to do it properly (a great start), then when I asked them how much they wanted there wasn't a charge. I've done the same thing with Porsche and BMW at the supplying dealer and only once did BMW do it for free, Land Rover did it was well but again that was the supplying dealer. So that's where we went for the first service and they were great so we haven't even called around to check prices this time and would only have done so if they had not been clear about the Haldex service. The major service is £318 inc VAT which is less than expected anyway, so I'm happy. Booth11
DustyBones
So Big Ron 👍🏼 went in for his one year service and I asked for Haldex oil change and strainer clean, inc some pics of before and after. We have done 11.6K and exactly one year old, reasonable number of launches, never abused thou, simply used as VW designed him. Driven briskly shall we say when conditions are suitable. we have before - and after - The pricey sum of 89 fine British pounds. Rest of service was prepaid as a deal when I bought car VW 2 services for £179. So a no brainer at purchase time. So for those waiting till it due, perhaps think again... JonSW
Jeepers. I hope whoever buys my old one gets this done. I just relied on the service schedule so it was traded in near 3 years old, 28K miles, 3 year service due next month and the Haldex never touched. Car never launched and mainly lightly driven. It went in for the service/MOT today and they confirmed (after my wife asking when heading over the keys and when it was collected as instructed!) that they had cleaned the filter. £504 for a major service, Haldex Service, Brake Fluid Change and MOT. That's not bad, especially as it will be at least another year before it needs a service again so that will be £720 for 4 years, that's about the cost of a 12 month minor service on my car. Don't suppose this was VW dealer in Tamworth per chance? So far my experience of them has been excellent. From initial sale, to servicing (The service lady's face was priceless when I booked Big Ron 👍🏼 in for an oil and filter change after a week (1500miles around wales running in) "How the bloody hell have you done that already..." Then a year later they serviced car and did the extra stuff on the 4WD and took pics of Haldex etc. Parts guys been good too for sourcing all the bits for retrofitting of the under-seat drawers and the heavy duty extended All-track off-road under tray (Think it was an actual dealer option in Europe as part of a rugged use kit or something). Price wise very competitive and car always returned with no marks etc. cheers

The car was supplied by the dealer in Tamworth and they were good apart from messing up the additional VED rate but credit to them they sent us a cheque for the 3 years extra cost which was over £900. The Kid
I’d join this with a photo of mine, but my dealers have just refused to clean my filter as apparently it’s hard work to get it out. Looking for recommendations of a dealer close to GL7 that anybody else has used for this job Booth11

Go with a good indy if your local dealership aren’t fully cooperating. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The Kid and Stobsie 1
