I have the impression from what I read that if you cancel multiple times then the only way to get the update is to visit the dealer.
mike2727
That is fine with me, not looking to get stuck in the middle of nowhere, with a possessed car 😞 I think VAG should have hired a japanese manufacturer to design their infotainment, German Car companies do not have the best reputation in that area
aldfort
Having seen Hondas efforts I'm not so sure. Shame you can't spec a car without infotainment. Nighthawk

mike2727
Wow feeling for you, what a mess, as an IT-er I understand bugs can happen, but looking worldwide at the "incidents", I strongly get the feeling, not enough testing is done by VW, before an update goes live, they have to come up with a solution that does not render the car useless, when a small part of the software is misbehaving. More failsafes should be in place. What is next ?, Virus attacks or worse issues that could cause safety concerns ? Aidey
Aidey
I don't think the version in this R is ready for use at all, its been so buggy from the start, as for the safety concern's mine are that when driving and the collision alert fires off even though nothings ahead of you and also when the main screen keeps switching off it also causes the main speed dials to switch , thats a major concern imo. I just hope my dealership are not awkward with me
mike2727
Fingers crossed, it does not need an accident before real action by VW is taken Aidey
Aidey
In between resets, this is the screen that seems to pop up most...

I just hope my dealership are not awkward with me I think it would be hard for the dealership to argue over what you’ve had happen over the weekend, and it resulting in a loss of confidence and faith in the system, to the point you want to ditch the car. Let’s hope they are accepting of the situation, I expect it’ll need to go up the VW line. Aidey
aldfort
We still keep most of the assistance systems turned off. Re the collision alert, maybe try adjusting the range. Aidey
Aidey
Well the car is in the Garage to hopefully sort it all out, Driving the 50 miles to there reminds me just how much i love the car lol, and the return journey in a loaner makes me appreciate it even more, i hope they sort it out, even though i was mad at the weekend, I love the car and want it to work Booth11

I really do hope that the software can be sorted and you have that change of heart about moving the car on. But I think anybody would have had a similar reaction to the software trauma of the last few days you’ve experienced. Aidey
