Download was "jerky" but finally it all downloaded and as promised the update then took about 30 mins. Quick test drive and 3 new massages appeared One was a "shop" update, took 5 mins. One message was to tell me the digital manual was updated, and had completed. One was to tell me the variable service schedule has been suspended! Not surprising as we do so few miles so I doubt the car can cope with servicing by mileage. We shall see if the little reminder pops up in 11 months time. All driving systems seem fine on the short test drive bearing in mind we don't use most of the clever stuff. I am pleased to say after the last update there were zero issues, this one is listed 2/2 and appears to be a small file. aldfort Posted May 22, 2022 Report Share Posted May 22, 2022 The info the dealer provided was right. 2nd big OTA update today. Not as big as the first one. Still demanded 30 mins to do the install. All seems well, raft of messages just like the last time. We want to drive the car, not read e- mail, just tell us if there is a problem VW. I’m not sure having 1896 is a prerequisite as I think @JoeGTI7 wasn’t on 1896 with his Ed45 GTI. I’m sure he’ll correct me if I’m wrong. I had the 1896 update done at the dealership back in March but have not had any major OTA of the nature of the ones detailed here lately. I was on version 1804 before the update. The data package is only used for online radio stations / music streaming anyway. The OTA does require you to have a stable connection to the VW servers (the white globe), the min privacy setting enabled and logged in as primary user. A data package is not relevant. i did cave in a few days ago and paid for a data package, sucker that I am! I was fed up of that notification on every startup! Ah I’d thought you were on an earlier software version. Thanks for confirming Joe. I think it was @T-bro was asking about the data package. I did the trial ages ago but never signed up for one once it ended.
