I am looking at rejecting the car but I have covered over 2000 miles in it. It was delivered on the 4th March, so still in my 30 day period. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this and do you think I will get any fight back from the dealership about rejecting the car seeing as we are so close to the 30 day rejection time limit and the miles currently on the car.. any advice would be greatly appreciated, it’s sad I’m having to do this but it’s completely frustrating, I have recorded a video of it happening again yesterday. Agree strange, but must be a software isue...because after reset the car it works again .....I will talk to the dealer tomorrow..I get back MrBlobby

I think you are one of a few people with this issue. Sounds like a software glitch ….there are two modules that can get confused and won’t talk to each other ie DSG ECU to Car ECU. If it resets itself on turning the ignition on and off it definitely points towards these areas. I’m sure Jetman is on the case with Milton Keynes VW HQ . Does this mean the clutch is engaged? It does. Both by gravity and the engine. To my understanding the clutch is engaged only after you release the brake (so some gravity rolling, and then you feel it ‘step in’). So if I’m on a downhill slope I will role forward, if I’m in an upwards slope I will role back a bit and then the car will resist with the engine to some degree (may still role back, if slope is steep). When releasing the brake the car may engage the clutch and may give it some gas to avoid it from stalling, but it will not use the brakes when AutoHold is OFF. My problem with AutoHold is that in order to change gear from D to R (or opposite) you have to hit the brake (or the lever won’t shift), and when you do the AutoHold would lock up and now you have to hit the gas to change direction (back to D or R) and that causes the car to jump, instead of easing into motion smoothly, especially more pleasant in tight parking spaces. Also, I don’t like the thump it makes when I start driving after stopping at a light. I like the car to transition smoothly from braking to going, and the AutoHold negates that. Luckily it can be turned off in EU/UK cars (seems it is not possible on US/NAR cars).

robdfr
Had the not being able to use the paddles glitch today 🤬 ws using the car fine , put it into manual mode , car was fine , couple of mins later paddles didn’t do anything , turned it off restarted it and they work fine. im thinking it must be a software issue , car was fine until a couple of days ago when I installed the updates that were available , not a happy bunny , let’s hope VW bring out a patch asap. A guy who works for VW Germany and the UK technical team who are speaking to the factory in Germany. One is telling me new multifunction steering wheel buttons are coming, the other says a software patch. robdfr
Just had my second and last glitch , driving back home in the sunshine , sunroof fully open , stopped to go the shops sunroof wouldn’t close, nothing , swiping away and nothing. drove home , cycled the car , turned it on and off , still nothing , then finally closed. but now no interior lights work , sunroof won’t work , nothing. Also noticed interior lights flash red when locking the car then flash to green when opening (my lights are set to blue) , never noticed this before. also attached a pic of a light illuminated on roof panel , never noticed this before. do these lights look normal ? contacted the dealer to reject the car. Ah, that’s too bad. Overhead consoles were a very common point of failure on the MK8. Seems like the same part, and the issues continue! I know it sounds like you are rejecting the car, obviously a 100% personal choice, but if you decide to keep it, you can always close the sunroof by keeping your finger on the door lock sensor until all the windows and sunroof close. Sorry for your issues with the car.

Sorry to hear that the glitches have continued, very frustrating for you and to push to the point you feel it you need to reject the car. I’ll have to check my car when it’s dark to compare with your experience on the flashing lights. Mine are also set to blue. Will report back. Thanks Becs just sat in the car for the last half hour , the issue finally cleared then came back again with a few opening and closings of the roof again. but has now cleared if I press and hold the lock function on the fob as blizzard suggested. the issue seems to be related to the yellow illuminated car symbol with the door unlocked , if this lights up then the whole console stops working. what is this warning light ? Can’t find it in the handbook strangely enough. and for anyone using OBD11 doesn’t look like its compatible with the 8.5 yet !
