Hey all. I'm looking at changing the 19" R Performance wheels on my chariot to 18s given the state of the roads where I live. Now I appreciate this is a very subjective choice and opinions will vary, but I guess I'm after a bit of inspiration wrt which actual wheels to go for. I have a few details in my mind that I'm leaning heavily towards and include: Must clear the brakes (obv). Lightweight - if I'm going to the expense of changing the wheels then I'd like an upgrade in both performance and comfort. More aggressive offset (upto ET35) - I think the car would really benefit from a 'deepdish' style and with 235/40/18 tyres on stock suspension, I don't see an issue with that. Style - I do like an open style of wheel that's not too busy...a bit like the opposite of the standard 19s I suppose. Colour - I'm leaning away from standard silver after years of preaching only that lol. So yeah, what have you got? Share/show off your 18s please so I can build a more defined picture of what I'd like to see on mine

Can anybody recommend some decent aftermarket 18" Pretoria's for a 2018 7.5R. I am looking to keep the same offset and hopefully not require spacers etc. Also what is the recommended tyre size? UK based

Expect from @Booth11 because she ticked every thats worth having on her mega spec lol i had my car for 8-9 months now and Im starting to love car more since updates have made it more liveable …I might save some money by ditching the black paint and just keep it white and used to money towards the bigger wheels (the reason why I didn’t get white I was scared it look like cheapo white van colour) I’m glad I selected the winter pack I don’t know what I would do without it. Maybe I might add the HK audio …. The standard speakers are good but I just want a little more bass.

Hey everyone, I haven't owned my 7.5R for all too long, but i know i will take it on track sometime soon and as with previous cars, want a set of wheels to use. I assume 18's are the preferred choice? Slightly lighter and a wider (and cheaper) range of rubber choice? My car is on standard suspension (for now), with standard brakes (again, for now). What are people using? Wheel wise and tyres? If you can share the width and spec of wheels and tyres, it would be appreciated. Let me know, ideally with pics! Thanks

Hi guys. On the verge of buying a set of oz wheels and considering running a staggered 8.5” front and a 9” rear I am running lowered springs as well at the moment and I have a set of staggered tyres that could fit. 235/35/19 front and 255/30/19 rears. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

tires tire bump on side wall Mk7.5 *warning-rant*
Quicksilver661 posted a topic in VW Golf R MK7 Chat
This post is a few days late, but i finally got around to write it. So this past Saturday i noticed a slight bump on my passenger side front tire, of course i never faced this before and had no idea what caused it; however i knew it can't be good. A quick search revealed that a major cause of these is usually caused by hitting curbs or falling in potholes, it punctures the inner wall of the tire and the leaked air has no where to escape causing the bump. I also learned that it was a "ticking time bomb" (not sure if its a fact though) which made me panic. Apparently it take a while for the bump to be visible depending on how badly it was punctured, in my case i noticed it on day 3 post falling into the pothole. The pothole that caused this didn't look too bad, but maybe because it was at the end of a mammoth road bump, i assume all the weight was up front and more so on the passenger side tire when it dipped down because the hit felt horrible.. (I went back to take a couple of pics, more on why below) I took the other car immediately and visited the nearest tire shop who did not carry them and couldn't order them for me from his supplier because it was out of stock. I then looked up the Continental tires dealer/agent and rang them up who said they do not have these in stock and can't order them due to the current situation. 🙃 BUT, he said that they have the "contact sport 3" and not the "ContiSportContact 5P" i was looking for. I asked for the difference and he said the only difference is the thread design...🙆♂️. Obviously it wasn't the case. In the end it turns out he had 1- yes only 1! in stock and neglected to mention it because he assumed i was looking for a set. So i went back and drove the R over (like a grandma) and managed to swap it out in one piece luckily. Here in Bahrain, you can actually submit a request to the concerned ministry asking for compensation for damages caused by bad roads- in this case potholes. Which is exactly what i did later in the day (my first submission and hopefully last!) along with the pictures. The only update i got was yesterday stating that it is being looked over by the concerned committee.. hope it works out!. 🤞 This is the second tire i replace in about a little over 1.5 years (~14k kms on the clock) since delivery (first time was kinda my fault, but again due to potholes); Which makes me question using this as a daily driver 😓. My questions: Getting new wheels for my R is on my wish list for a while (19" Oz racing Leggera HLT) which weigh almost the same as the stock Spielberg, does wheel weight matter? Would 18" wheels be better given it will add a tiny bit more tire wall? (40 instead of 35) Is this a know issue for Continental tires? If yes, what do you guys recommend instead? (for very hot and humid weather mostly) Thanks for bearing with this rant/post and i apologize for making this longer than it should. Added pics of the tire and the culprit (Excuse the dirty car). *P.S Please take 30secs and walk around your car before driving off for your safety. -
Hi all I have a set of 19" OEM Pretoria black alloy wheels on my car which I would like to swap for OEM Pretoria hyper silver wheels. (Mine only 2 scuff marks but I have wheel insurance so I will get repaired before swapping) If there is anyone out there who would be interested in an exchange to these with OEM Pretoria hyper silver alloys I would be very interested. There is a garage next to my house so we can get our tyres swapped over. Thanks

hey guys i am experiencing a vibration at speed 70+ to 77 Mph as mentioned on @Scanner thread who seems to have the same problem... as quoted "the car has on a few occasions had a strong vibration throughout the cabin when travelling at 70-85 mph. Seems to happen on very well surfaced roads and is less noticeable on rougher surfaces" but now as my plot thickens i feel it deserves its own thread. long story short is i have a 2019 estate DCC PAN ROOF current wheels fitted are a set of brand new RV019's with ps4's, i have attempted to balance the wheels 3 times my next step was to get road force balance but i didn't get a chance to, so decided to let VW have a look. below is an extract of the techs video report, can anyone give advice on what they think it may be, surely not all 4 of my wheels are not buckled i've probably only done 800 miles on them, does this look like a wheel bearing problem??

Finally, after 3 weeks from the time I placed my order at VW, I’ve had the 18 inch Sterling Silver Pretorias fitted with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 rubber (225/40 R18 92Y XL). I’ve always been on the fence about the 18 inch Cadiz wheels whereby some days I’ll love them and the next I’ll dislike them - I don’t seem to be the only one that has this opinion either. However, I’ve always loved the Pretoria design and I am a fan of keeping my cars looking relatively OEM. After finding out that sourcing 19 inch Pretorias from VW would cost over £3000, I knew this was not going to be an option for me. However! When I was given the option from VW for 18 inch Pretorias priced at £1000, I was shocked because I had never come across an 18 inch version before. After doing some initial research, I didn’t find much at all other than getting some help from the lovely folk over on this thread (http://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/19435-sourcing-pretoria-alloys/) Thanks guys! After biting the bullet and deciding to order them, here they are! (w/ some before shots too!) First impressions? Personally, I absolutely love them. The Sterling Silver colour is brighter compared to the 19 inch version and the size difference is pretty negligible, in my opinion. I’d love to see what other people’s thoughts are on the colour difference and size difference between the 18 and 19 inch versions. I’ve made this a separate thread to my initial post to help anybody that may be looking to purchase these in the future. If this has helped anyone in any way make a decision on whether they would like to purchase these or not, then I’m happy I have been able to help! Let us know if this has swayed you either way! I couldn’t be more over the moon with them and I think they have completely transformed the look of the car vs the Cadiz wheels. If anybody decides to grab themselves a set, I would love to see some pictures with them on different colours and ride heights! Oh and, any recommendations on wheel sealants?

My car had its first MOT last Friday morning and passed with flying colours. I really needed tyres but couldn't get the desired ones fitted in time for the test so had to improvise and borrow the wheels off my brother's 2017 Scirocco Rline. I absolutely love them on the Mk7 and think the stance they give the car is epic!

Fellas, Might be a daft question but I can't get my head round it... Im planning on changing from my 18" Cadiz alloys to some 19" Prets in the next month or so. Will the car be 1/2 an inch higher off the ground with the extra inch added to the alloys? If thats the case, then are all 7R's who have Prets from the factory running half an inch higher than the Cadiz boys? Or will there be no different and why?

So my car was serviced 4 weeks ago by VW where they changed the Haldex oil, it would seem that now if I make a hasty get away from a junction the front wheels spin a bit. ( there is 5mm all round on Michelin PSS at the moment ). Before the service no such spinning ever even with barely legal tyres. It's in on Monday for it's donor car front suspension rattle fixes/investigation, so I phoned them and let them know it's not like it was since it was serviced. (I assume the dreaded gunk is clogging the Haldex pump? Slightly and makjjng it less efficient at working.

Please can someone put my troubled mind at ease... Just put my Cadiz wheels back on for the winter. Imagine my surprise when I noticed that the nearside rear wheel arch gap is about 15mm bigger than the opposite side! The car looks positively lopsided! Fronts look fine. Had Eibach Pro springs fitted 2 months ago. Will they just settle or should I be heading to the garage asap?

I've just had my Pretorias fully refurbished. As I had discovered after taking delivery of my car that 3 of the 4 wheels were buckled, the (non franchised) dealer said they would happily pay for them to be professionally straightened. Luckily there is a wheel refurbisher relatively close to me with a stellar reputation, so I took them along. I stumped up for the cosmetic stuff (these wheels had clearly not been cosseted) and now have spanking clean wheels. Is there a consensus regarding wheel sealant? What do you use? Pros and cons? I generally clean with wheel woolies, and soapy water.

Has anyone got any pics of some ET44 8j x 18 wheels fitted to their mk7 R? Not too fussed on what style of wheel so long as they have those specs - on a non-lowered car too if possible... May be an ask but any help appreciated... ta.

Sorry if this is obvious or been answered before....... Is the final physical size of 18 & 19 inch wheels the same once the tyres are fitted? i.e if you were to lay them on top of each other would they be the same size. Unfortunately where I live potholes are a major consideration now when buying a car and I may just leave the 18's on the new car if it looks ok to give it a little more bounce. Hope i explained myself ok Thank you

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and only had my Golf R for 4/5 months now. Its a 2014 3dr oryx white with the 18" cadiz alloys. In november i got a good deal in the black friday sale on an airlift 3P kit saving nearly £1000 so had to buy at that price:grin: Anyways I'm after a new set of wheels which will go well with the suspension. Im thinking a set of Rotiform KPS but still undecided and after some idea's. what have other people used? what sizes, widths, offsets etc? For size wise I'm thinking 19x8.5 with and offset of et45. Post pics and specs of wheels and send your instagrams. mine is @jc_kasabian

I'm trying to decide which BBS wheels I want to use for my Golf R, so decided to see what others would pick for their own Golf R. So the options are: BBS XA: http://bbs.com/en/products/design_line/xa.php BBS SR: http://bbs.com/en/products/design_line/sr.php BBS CS*: http://bbs.com/en/products/design_line/cs.php BBS RX-R**: http://bbs.com/en/products/performance_line/rx-r.php *In black/silver, Google for the 5 stud version ** In black/silver I'm going to choose one of the options above for my own Golf evtually but still deciding which I like best! Doing a search on the forum for wheel offsets and spacer sizes brings up alot of different threads with different information, therefore I though it might be useful to collate all the relevant information into one place and draw a conlusion on the maximum offset/spacer size that can be run without any rubbing issues when your car is lowered. If you are running aftermarket wheels or spacers or both then please reply to the thread so that with the following format and I will try to draw a final conclusion: e.g. Diameter: 18 Width: 8J Offset: et49 Spacer: 0mm Car lowering: VWR Springs Tyres: 225/40/R18 Rubbing Issues: No Cheers, Andy
