TXR301
Looks like a bad deal, to me. 1999 maximum ticket allocation, with no confirmed minimum target; this, read along with the terms and conditions on the competition website, means that the person running the competition can continue deferring the draw until they've made the £50,000 they want for the car.The skeptic in me also wonders how 'random' the winner selection process will be... LouCyffer
I just see a “600bhp” Golf R on Kumho tyres....speaks volumes to me about the owner. I wouldn’t touch this with a cattle prod, but ETTO 1nfinite, stevemoid, samx300 and 3 others 2 3

Norm4n
This car was featured a couple of times on YouTube by Living Life Fast, it was previously owned by an elderly (and now quite famous) chap called Arthur. The previous engine did go pop, pushing boundaries as an experiment i think. However it was replaced prior to Arthur selling it, from memory it was done at VRS Mark 46 and Paradox1

samx300
Never was truly 600HP this R. False taglines is nothing new on social media - stick a bold title to attract punters (aka, click bait). This was at best 540-550HP on 99 pump fuel, via insider sources. The most powerful DSG R I've seen is Andy Russell's, which was 590HP independently dynoed and also running a modded V5 turbo (also from VRS). blower, 1nfinite and Scotty2hotty 2
Alpowers
One of the great things about an R' is you can do the School run, use for work every day, and tour europe if inclined, I feel the one in the raffle would be great for 5 mins, then you would quickly get fed up with the noise and drivability, however everyone to their own. And yes Kumho tyres says it all.

blower
Car threw a rod...and they put it down to oil cooling issues, and stuck a 2nd hand engine in and transferred the mod's over. Still with stock internals. No!, it threw a rod as they are pushing ~600bhp through an engine that is known to eventually throw a rod with just 500bhp. I've said it before and will keep saying it - pushing more than 500bhp / 450 ft/lb (600Nm) on these engines and they will eventually throw a rod and obliterate themselves. Seen it time and time again with people blaming oil, or fuel quality, or cooling or anything but the fact its the same failure every time - rod breaks. 1nfinite
Scotty2hotty
It seems the raffle is set up through his own website as well so who’s policing it? The winner could have been chosen before a single ticket/number was sold 🤷♂️ 1999 numbers to be sold to make just shy of £50k, not bad going really
dopper99
I spent some time watching and reading about this last night. The guy is a car trader and is selling the car after owning it for 6 months. So not unusual for a car trader to be selling after 6 months. It has boosted his Youtube subscriber count quite a fair bit. My thoughts……. I read a couple of different people said he paid £32K for it from Arthur. So he is not actually making £50K, and I think he has to pay tax on this competition, if he does it properly. Be prepared to have a lot of spare cash to a) put the meths in it and b) fix it when is goes wrong, the bills will be expensive. Let alone the fuel bill when you are hammering it. God knows who would insure you and how much it would cost. This car would be pretty uninsurable for anyone under 30 IMO. The only real use for this car is if you own a Youtube channel and want to boost your views and subscriber count.

I agree with the top bit that it’s not unusual for a car trader to sell after 6 months although no one is disputing this, if he has given £32k for the this then I think Arthur has had Calvin’s eyes out 😂😂 Having these cars at stage 3 isn’t a one off, there is plenty of people that own stage 3 Golf R’s on this forum for various reasons and they insure them no problem and some Younger than 30. Why would that be the only use for this car? maybe you just want a stage 3 Golf R to have some fun in or as a daily, or maybe as a track or drag car 🤔 Stobsie
DDave
A couple not far from me tried this a few years ago as a way to sell there house, they never sold the amount of tickets required to cover the value of their house and the raffle never ever took place. Don,t know but take it they refunded what they had sold?
