luton-stu
No issues with mine. What happens, does it let you dial but not connect? I. Know it’s the obvious, but have you tried deleting the phone and re-pairing it? Calls connect they just disconnect and reconnect every 10 seconds or so.Will try resetting.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
AHG
Sounds like either a phone problem, or car antenna problem. But with iPhones it’s usually inter-version stuff, so the next update may solve it Maybe it’s angry you use Spotify and not Apple Music 🙂 luton-stu and aldfort

Never had one but the tech seemed pretty good judging lack of moans on that front. I had the 7.5 and it was perfect! Never missed a beat tech wise! Apart from the panroof surround cracking it was a great car. The .5s have always corrected the issues from the new tech issues. Which then go into the new models, as it’s supposed to have ironed out all the bugs. A bit like Apple with there phones. Sadly car tech is abit more substantial and not as easy to fix. I’m hoping mine is not as troublesome as the 8. However with the new infotainment system I’m sure it’s going to need updates and new parts looking at the posts. Although I’m loving My 8.5 so far 😎 Msportman

Or is it a hostage situation. 😄 Hi, my eldest also has had this issue yesterday for the 1st time. He has other issues with tech side as we had multiple warnings on the 1st part of our journey yesterday and rear windows kept opening themselves (only about 2 inches). Anyway left car about 4 hours and on return journey had this error similar to @tommymortago

Anyway left car about 4 hours and on return journey had this error similar to @tommymortago The window issue could also be a malfunction of the window Convenience opening (in the Vehicle menu under Windows. Might be worth checking if this feature is On or Off. With the window Convenience setting, when you lock or unlock your car from the driver's or front passenger's side, the side windows can be opened or closed at the same time (can be all windows or just drivers window depending on what’s been selected). Press and hold down the open or close button on the key fob and all the windows respond. When you release the button the process stops. This also happens if you turn the key to unlock in the door and hold it there. The windows are closed when you turn and hold the key in the close position. Releasing the key stops the process. It is possible, when opening the car with the remote to linger too long on the unlock button and the windows drop a few inches. Then if you lock the car without the finger lingering on the lock button (which would raise them again), the car is locked but the windows are still open. I don’t use it as have had the windows open inadvertently on other Golfs when the golfs button may have accidentally been pressed. But this has never been when the car was in motion. I have had some icons disappear from the driving mode menu in my mk8 but so far so good on the 8.5.
TheJetMan
My iPhone keeps being disconnected from the car, telling me the cars Wifi has been turned off.. Wont let me reconnect without a hard restart of the infotainment system. Worst software in a car I have EVER seen.

I’ve had my iPhone disconnect a handful of times but it reconnected by itself immediately. Seems to happen at a certain spot on a regular journey. It’s funny as the same spot used to trigger an error warning on my mk8. I have once had what you describe where it wanted the cars WiFi turning on but no effect. I fishy do a hard reset but just left it and next journey it was ok.
luton-stu
Yep mine just continually reconnects every 15secs or so making it impossible to make a call in the car while moving. Tried to disconnect and start over yesterday so will see how it goes when I have done my mandatory 60% office based days this week Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Msportman
I don’t know why VW can’t get the software right before release. My old MK7 isn’t complicated unlike our BMW iX1 but the software on the BM has never been an issue and even being a dinosaur even I find using the infotainment a doddle. It seems VW is plagued with a myriad of issues past over from the 8. Its strange how some peeps get no issues and others seem to suffer. I wonder if the S3 or 8P RS3 suffer similar issues on the new model?🤔 Geeza
Rick343
Just returned from the Dealer after reporting the gearbox issue. Unsure if I've been fobbed off or not tbh. Asked them to raise a technical enquiry several times, and was told that because the fault had been experienced by the tech on a test drive, his report would suffice. They said they have done a reset on the DSG box, however as we know that is unlikely to achieve anything. Ended up with them refusing to raise the enquiry and them suggesting I should escalate it to VW customer care. Geeza

How can they refuse to raise an enquiry!? I'd call and make a complaint bud and ask to the speak to service / dealership manager. 100% you've been fobbed off. I had the same issue with the first dealer I took it to. Don't take no for an answer bud.

Why oh why is it the customer is left doing the work running around writing emails suffering after spent the best part of £40-£50k …..it’s just shocking No wonder VW are in trouble and not selling very expensive cars at this time. Yes they’ve sold a few 8.5R’s but nothing like the numbers they need to sell as it’s all mainly down to price of these new cars and high monthly payments. I hear this all the time that the market for £20-£25k is doing ok in the used market but where can you buy a new car for these prices nowdays other than a Duster! No wonder the car industry is all over the place. Id kick off if you don’t get a response within a week. It must make you want to reject the car if you get fobbed off.! Tethias
Interestingly looks like I've just had the paddle issue on mine too. Driving home in comfort, changed to sport, sat in S6 doing around 65-70mph, pulled the right paddle and it changed up to M7, then about a second later iy switched itself back to S6 and then neither paddle would do anything when I pulled them. Couldn't get it in to manual mode the rest of the way home. Could change driving modes fine but no response from the paddles. Will test again when I head out later 🫣
