This year - Mexico in summer and Maldives this winter.

We did Playa del carmen and Riviera Maya in Mexico a few years ago. Love the Maldives, we've done about ten of the islands now, Kandolhu, Huvafen-fushi and Baros were the best . I know a very knowledgable Maldives specialist if you ever need any help or info.

I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have a job where you travel all over the world. Unfortunately I don’t have a job like that but the misses and I try to get away 2-3 times a year. Usually a 2 week holiday in the summer then some city breaks in between. Quite often I enjoy a city break more than a big holiday.

Last year we went to Barcelona and Mexico. This year we went to Kraków in February (Coldest I’ve ever been!), New York a few weeks back where I finally proposed to her after 10 years together 1f602.png and in September we’re going to the Dominican.

So many places I want to go and see. I’m 28 now and as much as we both love our holdiays the misses is on about having children which will obviously tie us down a bit more 1f62b.png.

A job with travel is not all it's cracked up to be.

one hotel is pretty much like the next.

if you do a 3 week trip between Hong Kong, China (Shenzhen), S.Korea, China (Shanghai) Taiwan, Hong Kong you really forget which country you are in lol.

my usual places other than Asia, Colombia, Mexico, USA, Ukraine (not as much lately thank f**k) Greece, Italy, Spain, Germany and other places.

as mentioned you don't always seem much of the country or like Athens you see it all with numerous weekends off there and working during the week.

previous to current job I spent nearly 30 Years in RAF, with associated travel (including Red Arrows Africa trip, Asia trip and Oz trip).

i really really appreciate holidays in the UK, nice beach with wife and our dog and some lovely roads to drive around on.

for those going to Mexico, do you get security briefs?

its one of our highest security destinations, only Venezuela is higher.

I love a uk holiday if you get it right and the weather is on your side. These days I settle for a static caravan in llaughne Dylan Thomas country in west Wales and on a great beach with nice weather you the wife and dog what more could one want and all for £18 a week ground rent a year. Bargain 😁😁

The wife insists on getting Me on a plane once a year though 🙈🙈🙈🤬

I expect its pretty stressful too, and can't imagine the jet lag you get going between so many different time zones. I suppose when you're there for work you're on a strict time scale? Fly in, get the meeting or visit done and then fly back home with as little free time spent there as possible seems as your companies are paying for it.

Funny you should say that about Mexico. When we went last year we had no warnings or anything off the travel agents but we got talking to quite a few different Americans and they had all been warned before they traveled there. Apparently the cartel are moving in on the top tourist sites, mainly Cancun and have made some serious threats which would ruin the tourism there. Seen on the news in last few months there's been a fair few shootings in Cancun lately, sounds like the Cartel are being true to their word.

We’re going away in the camper van in a couple of weeks, ferry from Portsmouth to Cherbourg and then staying in and around the Vendée ☺️ I love a long drive but I’m going to try and keep it short this holiday for our three year old daughters sake, we drove through five countries in a day with her when we were coming back from Germany a few weeks ago which was a bit much 🍿 🤔

Last two summer holidays have been to Kefalonia and Sicily, we also live just a few minutes from Bristol airport so I nearly always fly from there when I can .

I was thinking of doing the North Coast 500, in the north west Scotland as it's relatively close to me....love the A82 (Glencoe) leading up to the start.

Just need to figure out some decent fuel ⛽️ stops, as once you leave Inverness it'll be 95 octane at best....which won't agree with my stage 1 map.

If it's that bad then petrol cans - last time I went was years ago in a Nissan micra! Still great fun and was a great curry house at ullapool.

I was in Mexico City and Guadalajara end of last year, usual briefing from our security team (my company also has a specialist K&R team so we always get briefed), but as looking at Tequila distilleries and maturation the sites were pretty secure and some serious weaponry on display.

Reynosa, near the Texas border can be interesting, depending on situation between local cartels and police at the time, not likely to be targeted specifically, but could get caught up in the middle of an incident.

Normally accompanied by guys from our own local offices, or the clients local guys, so with locals which reduces risk.

Nigeria is always ‘fun’ - full escorts and armed guards in some places, and hotels always secure and vetted by our K&R guys, but clients secruity team supported by armed police, so again fairly secure.

Luckily I don't have to deal with this as the only thing I'm good for is taking photos. There's nobody to pay a ransom anyway!!

India was the worst though, hotel had armed guards and our drivers were also armed and ex military.

America is never a problem but always fun, you HAVE to have Police if working on commercials so we have local Police who look after us. Most of the car services we use all use ex-military boys and nearly always carry. All of my drivers have had weapons except for 1.

A friend was telling me about Columbia. He had some insane stories!

I’ve had some pretty highly tuned cars and bikes over the years but would never plan a trip around the potential availability of good quality fuel... Just go and have a good time.

I’ve had lots of heavily tuned cars and bikes and while high octane would be preferable I would never think to plan a trip around the availability of good quality fuel. My business partner rode the NW 500 on his bicycle last year and had a great time, it’s on my list of things I’d like to do :)
