235/35/19 uniroyal rainsport 5's at £88 a corner on Camskill, near same rating as MPS4S.

They are nowhere near the PS4S in terms of outright grip. I doubt they're even as good as the PS4 (which is a completely different compound to the 'S') - probably better in the wet though.

I got four corners 19” Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 fitted for £481 at National with their recent discount code, seemed decent reviews and a handy saving over the PS4S... they’ll be next though

I might look at these before winter. I can get them at National all round for £431 in 235/35/19 with NHS discount.

Mate of mine has them and rates them for the price - didn’t know they did NHS discount as I would’ve got the Mrs to whip it round

National doesn't show on the blue light website - do they accept it in store or over the phone do you know?

Fucknows I don't use BlueLight.

i find an email asking why they don't offer NHS (in this case) discount works though.

Anybody know of any offers on 19" MPS4S at the moment?

Looks like £160 a corner and no discounts for multiple at Blackcircles

I told my local VW dealer the Blackcircles price as the car is there for some warranty work and they are getting a price but am certainly not holding my breath on that one

Can anyone confirm which version of the Conti 5P runs on the R ? Didn’t realise there were so many different versions of the same tyre . Was very wet on my way in to work this morning and didn’t realise how low the tread on my fronts was getting until an aqua planing moment

I have Michelin PS4S now but they replaced the factory fitted Conti 5Ps.  Just checked a couple pics of my old 5Ps and they were the AO variant so 235/35/R19 Y (91) XL AO.  Ran two sets of the same variant on my previous mk6 gti too.  AO denotes ‘Audi’ and the marker code for tyres for VAG cars, so for VWs.

Crap pic but you can just see the AO on here (circled in red)

It is alarming how suddenly the performance of ultra low profile tyres drops away with Wear.  If you can buy Top tyres at a great price, it helps ease the pain of replacing well before they get near any “legal limits”.

An R deserves good tyres, as do you and your passengers.  This is exactly the motivation for starting this thread!  Unfortunately there are few Bargain Deals available at the moment.

Not just with wear.  I've noticed a significant reduction in wet road grip just from 3 years of age on PS4 (not PS4S) tyres even though they still had 90% tread depth.  I once had some old tyres (7yrs+) on a v8 Holden ute I used infrequently, and it was diabolical in the wet (too much power, no weight in the back, very little grip = oversteer anytime).  These days I replace any tyres more than 5 years old, regardless off tread depth.
