Mine is a late 2015 too, but rubber still looks & feels as new. . . Although mine is garaged for at least 14hrs a day. . . Often more, I expect that is prolonging the life of the rubber components.

I expect that makes all the difference.  Don’t know about the others cars in this thread but my late 2015 lives its life outside 24/7 365 days of the year at the mercy of the elements.

I was just chatting to my dad about this, as he has garaged his cars for many years until they moved house to a cottage with a tiny garage. . . Within 12 months he had rubber seals going and water ingress. He puts that down to the persistently damp weather we have for 6months of the year, and cold winters.

I've not had any issues with door seals either, and as my mirrors don’t freeze I rarely use the heaters, so haven’t lost a mirror glass.

only put the car in the garage to keep it clean & away from thieves!

Yes in our climate it must take its toll on those perishable parts, and your dad’s experience confirms that.

I do treat my door seals and weather strips and they are still in very good shape so that does make a difference.  But the boot badge drain tube is one of those forgotten bits.  Until now.

I do make use of the heated wing mirrors through winter, but only when needed, but haven’t lost glass yet like many others (though my driver’s wing mirrors is younger than the car as it was replaced last year after a speeding paramedic car smashed it off).  But the passenger one seems sound, I think that’s possibly down to the milder winters in my far south east part of the country, temps never get really cold even in deep winter, so use my of the heated mirrors probably a lot less than some other peoples.

Nobody would bet on this being so, Such are your Detailing talents!! 👍👏

Thanks very much Neil. :)   Sadly even regular detailing can’t prevent things such as this when the car has no cover from the damp and rain.  Still, it’s a minor thing in the great scheme!

Mine lives in a garage, and has done for 3+ years. I wonder if it’s just a cheap part; the drain on my Mk5 didn’t suffer this...

Well that blows my theory out of the (rain) water 😁  Mind you, yours was still just about intact, unlike some of the others that have completely failed, and who knows how long they’ve been like that‽  it’s a small part so maybe not the best quality?
