Hello, i own a VW 2015 GOLF R MK7 and just recently got it back from a propshaft issue (The propshaft donut snapped and shredded my heatsheild 🙂 ) Today whilst i was driving it having a bit of fun, I noticed this knocking sound when i started to accelerate. The sound got faster and louder the quicker the car went. When driving 'normally' there is no noise at all? Only when you give it some beans. I have not launched the car either, the only thing i'm putting it down to is my area does have alot of speed bumps which i take my time over. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bam

Hi guys, stuck between getting a mk7.5 outright with prets for around 28k. Or leasing a mk8 9+23 10k miles for 370pm. I only intend to keep it 2 years either way, just no sure which one to do! The mk8 will be black with standard spec, whereas the mk7.5 will be pre opf and with prets, but the mk8 is faster! Not sure how the sound compares in the stock exhaust. What are your thoughts, mk7.5 outright or mk8 lease?

So, with the current details available to us, what are your current thoughts or intentions towards purchasing a MK8 Golf? Are you a dead cert to pick up a model at some point, undecided or disappointed on whats on offer? It would be good to see what the current general consensus is.

i got Volkswagen golf variant 2014 dashboard shows "Transmission faulty! Service vehicle." then engine not start. my local service guy's computer shows "P175E00 - Clutch 1 closes unintentionally", "P060700 - Control module Performance" i think before i get this error my car goes normally there is no any symptom for any clutch or transmission issue. what should i do now. can you guys help me? pls. thanks pls find pictures in attachment. Hi everyone, i have a very strange knocking noise coming from the front of my car when i am lighly feathering the accelerator (around 1500 revs) and it also happens when the car is slowing down from a low speed. I have taken it to VW this morning for a general health check in which they said they can hear the noise but can't see what it would be and that it requires further inspection. The car is a 2016 Mk7 R with 19000 miles on it so not enough for long term wear and tear. I have a video of the noise but i cannot attach it to the post so if anyone would like to hear the noise if it would help them determine what it is i can email it or send it in some other way to you directly... Any help would be grately appreciated!

Bought a golf r manual after searching for the next car after a megane 250 sport and Cup pack. Love the golf, more power, more subtle and easier to live with. Dynaudio is superb and loving app connect. Anyone recommend suspension upgrades?

Hi all First post here so wondering if anyone can help it, I've noticed the rear tail light indicators on the MK7 R are not dynamic, just wanted to ask if anyone knew if they came as standard on the mk7.5 from 2017 onwards? Or are they an optional spec?

Morning everyone, Has anyone else had any luck getting any information from Akrapovic regarding ordering the exhaust as an aftermarket option? I have finally received a response from them saying the downpipe will be available to order in a couple of weeks time. I am more interested in the full system though!

Ordered some Team heko wind deflectors for my 7.5 R, but they aren’t very dark/black would I be an idiot for spraying them gloss black to match the rest of the trim? Has anyone done this before? 🤔 Thanks

Hi guys , im new to the forum. I have a mk7 golf r and i am currently running a jb4 with a resonator delete, vwr600 intake , silicone hose and turbo inlet elbow from racingline. I would like to get a downpipe next ,but im not sure as to which would be the best for not throwing any cel lights up. Do you need a sports cat such as the bcs 200cell cat or can you just purchase a a downpipe without the cat. Cheers for any help in advance.

I currently have a 2015 Manual R which I've had a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed it but im looking to trade in for a DSG at some point between now and January (im not in a rush) hopefully if the price drops a 7.5 R. I have come across some 2015/6 A45's, has anyone had any experience in one and can shed some light on what its like vs the R. I will of course test drive but Its always hard to tell the true nature of the car unless they let you go out on your own which the VW sales man let me in my current R.

Just bought a 65 plate Golf R. Im pretty sure it has the upgraded MIB2 head-unit that supports Apple CarPlay. It has the voice button and when I click it, it says something along the lines of 'take to dealer to enable app-connect'. Rang up VW to book it in and they said that the car doesn't support it. Am I missing something? One of the main reasons I bought this specific car for was for carplay "/ -

Hoping someone can help me activate Car-Net on my MK7 GTD! I have just upgraded from the Mib1 (5.8” Discover Nav) headunit to the Mib2 (8” Discover Pro), everything is working fine but I can’t access Car-Net or any of the online features. I’ve tried registering online but my VIN number isn’t accepted, when trying with the VIN number for the head unit (salvaged from GTE so from another VIN) it gives me the activation code but the vehicle rejects this. Is there any way to get around this? I’m just trying to access Google Maps on the navigation, I presume you need Car-Net active for this. Thanks in advance!

So what do you guys think of the new Golf GTI TCR? https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/volkswagen-reveals-286bhp-golf-gti-tcr Personally i think, in terms of its styling cues it looks 😍. Why i don't understand is why VW don't give the R the options the have the nice detailing features, like the new front splitter design or special interior details like the highlights on the gear shifter and on the seats. Makes the R interior look a bit dull. Considering there is a mk7 GTI, GTI PP, GTI Clubsport 40 and Clubsport S is the TCR one too many??

Hi folks, I'm undecided on what splitter/skirt/diffuser kit to order for my Mk7R. I've narrowed it down to either the TripleR low line kit or the V2 front splitter, V2 rear side splitters and matching skirt from Maxton. Quality is a big for me as well as the aesthetics of the kit. Has anyone got these kits fitted? If so, please post some photos below to help with my decision. Cheers!

Hi All, Im really hoping someone can help. Yesterday i bought a 2010 VW GOLF R MK 6 AUTO DSG. When going for a test drive and inspecting the car it all seemed fine. My first issue came when i dropped my friend off that came with me. As i was leaving his driveway, i went to put it in reverse and at that point it gave me an error with an exclamation mark saying gearbox was overheated. I turned the car off and then started it again and seemed fine. I reversed out and went home. At some stage i got a solid engine light appear on my dash. Today, i dropped my mum off somewhere and when putting it in reverse, it wouldnt select the gear and let me reverse, nor would it let me select drive either. I restarted the car and that seemed to then let me reverse and select my gears. At this point the engine light was still showing. I took the car to my mechanic to do a check of the car as i just got it and to show this issue i was having. As i was driving to my mechanic, about 15 hours after the initial light appeared, the light went away by itself. He ran the OBD scans throughout the whole car and only found one code - "P2711 - Unexpected / Implausible Mechanical Gear Disengagement", which was cleared because he checked the DSG and it seemed fine as the drive is smooth and the oil was good. We also discovered it could be from aggressive driving which i dont believe i was doing as i have been taking it easy. When i got home, i went to the gym awhile later, as i was trying to reverse out of my driveway, the same issue occurred where it wouldnt select reverse or any other gear so i had to restart the car to get it to select reverse and the light is appearing again. Im really not sure what is happening at this point and starting to think this may be a gearbox issue after all. Is anyone able to shed some light on this? Kindest Regards, Liborio - Sydney

Introduction Good Evening Fellow R owners. I have just created an account after trawling through these forums for a few weeks. I have read through plenty of users posts and I'm amazed by what different people have managed to do to their cars! I'm looking for some guidance as to what modifications to do to my R. I will hopefully become a regular member of the forum 👌 Modifying my R I have a 2014 Manual MK7R and I'm looking into modifications but can't decide on what to go with. I have had my car since Sep 17 and haven't made any modifications to it yet. I would like my car to be faster throughout the rev range, to be more visually aggressive/appealing and to be louder whilst maintaining half decent MPG (for the power of the R). Stage 1/2 - APR or REVO? After reading user posts I'm edging towards APR. My previous car was mapped by REVO but I've heard better things about APR. Is there any pertinent information I should know before deciding this? -Stage 1 or 2? Ideally I would like to go to Stage 1 first and then potentially upgrade to Stage 2. With REVO you can just pay the difference between stages, is this the case with APR? Hardware Upgrades -Although they aren't required, is it recommended to upgrade any components for Stage 1? (IE a clutch uograde for manual transmission) -Short Clutch Stop? Are they worth it? Which would you buy? -Short shifter? Are they worth it? Which would you buy? -Uprated clutch? Is this recommended for even Stage 1? If so, which would you buy? -New intercooler? Which to buy? -New air intake system? Which to buy? Making my car louder -Would a res delete and turbo muffler delete be enough or do I need to either get a downpipe or whole new exhaust system? Are there any recommendations of which of these to get and where from? Visual Appearance -I'm going to get my rear windows 95% or 100% tinted. Could anybody recommend a shade to use or where to get these done? -Is there any modification I could make which would greatly enhance my car visually? Im considering Brembo drilled brake discs and red callipers. THANK YOU for taking the time to read my post! I apologise for how long it is. I would greatly appreciate any advice given. Please feel free to add photos below. I'm from near York and I'm also in Suffolk quite a lot. Any recommendations taking into account my location would be much appreciated. James 😊

I placed my order on January 31st for; At the moment i can see my order on the app, but no confirmed build week etc. Any of you guys have an idea from experience when i should start seeing some movement on this? Hi, Looking at potentially getting into an RS3 and toying with the idea of selling my Golf. The car is a 2015 plate with 16k miles. It does not have any optional extras other than factory equipment. I have just replaced the two front tyres with Goodyear Eagle F1s, waiting to get stock for the rear. Was serviced when I bought it around 6 months ago and service book stamped. Car is completely stock, unmodified and hasn't been remapped (no JB1 or JB4 or DTUK). £20,000 open to offers although I challenge you to find one with similar miles and DSG for the price.
