Update, the AliExpress door sill protectors look great! It's a mirrored black finish, doors front and rear open and close without any issue. Not scratches or blemishes just reflections on the right area.2 points

It's ironic that this new OTA software update designed to fix the bugs and gremlins in fact causes a bloody big gremlin in itself! Typical. 🙄1 point

Hopefully just my problem, cup holder button not working so told the dealer before it’s service yesterday,he informed me it’s a common problem with Tiguans and it’s getting fixed under warranty, this involves a whole new centre console allegedly 😳1 point

Yeah maybe. I have a 5 litre W6 fallout from Gtechniq that I was using on my Golf R. I guess I only changed to BH Because of the great reviews it was getting, I will try going back. Thanks, I find car detailing very relaxing. Before I know it I have been out for 4 hours and the Mr's is shouting at me to do some proper house work haha.1 point

I agree but in all honesty, the mk8 plastics do not fit that description. Don’t get me wrong, I actually like the simplicity and minimalistic design but the plastics are by no means premium.1 point

I preferred Apr 2021, should be built next week. Hopefully I’ll get what I ordered and not a MY23. Some rumors about +10 HP (like 7.5 vs 7) not more. I fear it may come with additional downgrades (lights etc). I don’t hate piano black parts, but only vertical, not horizontal. I actually think “scratchy” rugged matte plastic that is made thick and of good quality, would feel much more premium than glossy painted-over thin plastic, which I’d bet is the case.1 point

mine 7.5r is otherwise standard but I got the tvs tune today. it keeps the car in 7th when cruising on the mway which is great, it no longer dives into 6th at every opportunity. Ditto pulling onto the mway from a service station. it allows the car to use more of its torque. I hadn't expected to find the changes actually smoother but they are. no doubt they're faster too but it's not immediately obvious imo. Good mod I'm pleased with it. Now to try my local roundabouts where it'd normally enter them still in 7th. I'm hoping I no longer have to compensate by manually changing down and then back up again later.1 point

To lower or not to lower ?
Jace reacted to Bodyboarder81 for a topic
see this is where man maths works … you’ll want to keep some tread on the 18” tyres , so when you sell the car down the line you can put the standard wheels back on with some tread left boom order your new wheels up ! Haha1 point -

Hey Simon, no it’s not a must but it is recommended for smoother shifts. I know a few people who have done it at stage 2 though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point -
yes no belt just chain. I fell victim of the failing tensioners on my last car, luckily it only slipped a little so no serious serious damage but it still cost me £700 with a V-CON, it was just out of warranty but had full VW service, MOT's & was on a service plan, I think their bit was about £1500.1 point

I sometimes wonder what those "SHOP" updates are actually doing. Its the most underwhelming "shop" on the planet!1 point

Really appreciate the info, thanks. Will try the recommendations and report back. Connie is always helping me wash the cars. She's the best. Craig1 point

To follow up on the above, I downloaded the full update to the car lastnight and then followed the instructions to let it install. The install took about 30 mins, the instructions just said to exit the car and do not use it for the next 30 mins or so. Half hour later I went out to check and all was done. I’m now on software version “A896”. After a bit of Googling, I found out that yes indeed, VW are now doing full OTA updates that you previously had to go into the dealers for. And that I’ll get another slightly smaller update pushed to me at some point which will give me the full “1896”… so I’ll go from A896 to 1896.1 point

Software & Hardware versions and updates
Aidey reacted to benderella for a topic
Hello. This is my first post in the forum. My hardware is H58 and the software is 1980. I’ve received lately several OTA updates and I think that the last one broke something inside as now the unit resets instantly after 1 minute and at the 4th reboot it remains off and then I get warnings about lot of features not being available. Am I the only one with this problem? I already took it to the workshop and they cannot update it as they need more time than that minute to do the process. Am I the only one experiencing this?
